As you start to get more and more of those “Black Friday sales” emails (that coincidentally started three weeks ago) we want to remind you of a few important things:

💸 You are allowed to spend however you choose, just make sure you are intentional and keep it within budget.

💸 Some of those sales aren’t really sales. It’s just cute marketing meant to play on your emotions to get you to buy now.

💸 The unsubscribe button is a great way to protect yourself from getting hammered with more messages this week and into the new year.

💸 Small businesses are hurting this year, so if you can find ways to support even one business locally then that could be a big help.

💸 You should bargain hunt for anything that might be a generic item. You might be able to find something on Facebook Marketplace or even just another store for a few dollars cheaper.

💸 Spending money even while on the debt-free journey is okay, and you’re not a bad person for prioritizing some gift-giving this holiday season.

Happy budgeting - you got this, Toasties ❤️

5 years ago I went out on maternity leave with our first baby and then my life flipped upside down. I got laid off from my teaching job while on leave and was completely blindsided. I poured my heart into my classroom and I thought teaching was my forever.

It didn’t make sense at the time, but that was the beginning of many changes that have brought me more joy and purpose than the classroom ever did.

Then there was a pandemic, I taught one more semester during Covid distance learning, we started a podcast, we paid off $132k of our own debt, we sold our house, moved, I started my finacial coaching business, we had 2 more babies, Justin left teaching and we moved back…

Sometimes the hardest things are the best thing to happen to you.

Today I updated my calculations for how much debt our financial coaching clients have paid off and we passed the $3M mark. Three million dollars 👀 How cool is that??

I still teach every day. It just looks a little different. It’s even better than I imagined.

I’m proud of this “little thing” we are doing that has turned into kind of a big deal.

💸 How do you know you’re doing this budget thing right?

Over the course of our time helping folks with their budgets we have seen plenty of different strategies.

Folks get excited about the debt-free journey and build a budget to accelerate their goals.

And many times they have some quick wins - but some times it becomes a fireball of burnout that we end up tossing out the window.

They become so focused on “debt-free” that they don’t create healthy spending patterns to sustain them long term. They fast track to burnout and end up having a binge situation.

‼️ “So how do we know when we’ve found the budget to avoid burnout?!?”

💙 Value-based budgeting. You have to build a budget that reflects your goals and desires in a way that allows them to both be part of your financial journey.

Pushing back things you love doesn’t help. Overspending without prioritizing goals won’t get you to the finish line. It’s finding the balance between these two that will give you that “just right” budget.

💵 This is exactly what we do as financial coaches and exactly what we’re working to teach to as many folks as possible.

‼️ The best damn feeling EVER ‼️

Imagine this: you’re celebrating your anniversary with your partner. You’ve hustled like wild over the last year to get a hold of your debt cycle and stop it for good. You go to the steakhouse, grab all the appetizers, get the nice bottle of wine, and enjoy the best damn prime rib you’ve ever had.

And you budgeted for it so it feels that much better.

Oir 1:1 coaching program brings you exactly this; the freedom to take date night with your partner and not stress about the final bill.

We only have space for a few more clients, so if you’re ready for it then you need to jump now. Seriously.

1:1 coaching is the exact accountability you need to tidy up that budget, pay off debt, and start to spend money on things that bring you joy. We’ll work together to get your money machine rollin’ down the track.

You don’t need to be stuck feeling like you can’t date your partner anymore. You deserve to have date nights that give you all the romantic and fuzzy vibes that made y’all fall in love.

But we can only do that if we take the leap and start to fix this.

Budgeting for the good stuff. Leaving the rest. That’s the finish line. Let’s get there ❤️

Oh - and typical results end up paying for the program several times over! It’s that damn successful. For real.

If you’re ready, head to our bio to submit an application to make sure you’re a good fit.

Let’s do this thing 💸💸
