It was the flap of the butterfly wing that eventually brought Erika Bride to Georgia after her time in California, but she is here and ready to share her creations with Hall County! Beginning in the tap room of a winery in Temecula, Erika jumped the ranks to eventually get to blend her own wines and aptly name her creation Butterfly Effect. The story of release night is beautiful and it is probably the flapping of the wings that lifted her into her relationship that would move her to Georgia (as fate would have it). Now, Erika is bringing the opportunity to Private Label her wine to restaurants in the area. Also, Erika is a lifelong artist, but through a deeply personal experience, she discovered the healing power for her through art and helped to use art to illustrate the life stories, hardships, and joys in people's lives that make them who they are. There is also the opportunity to artistically show the company culture, significant milestones, and all sorts of other situations through art that can be a beautiful display in homes, offices, and anywhere else you might find beautiful art. Additionally, our half-day preschool program is open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 8-noon for children ages 3 years old and up.

Mental Health Awareness Month: Joshua's Voice!

Just because you can't see something doesn't mean it doesn't exist. From a place of tragedy in her own life, Shawnette Good, Executive Director of Joshua's Voice founded the non-profit that trains, advocates for, and supports those with invisible disabilities. What is an invisible disability, you ask? Yeah, us too, so take a listen to hear how it is described. The idea of being a voice of compassion, to have a conversation that goes past "How are you?" "Fine" and to be understanding that there are situations that we do not understand about others that we might not be able to see is so important. As we wrap up Mental Health Awareness month at the time of release, there is a place of hearing those who might be dealing with invisible illness, as well as recognizing that some folks might be autistic, have MS, suffer from a Traumatic Brain Injury, or so many other things that change how life goes on a daily basis. We also celebrate with Shawnette their partnership with Hall County First Responders as they provide sensory kits and training for those who might not deal well with sirens, bright lights, or verbal communication as they are being helped and cared for by local first responders.

Who knew that competition Magic: The Gathering would have any real-world payoff? Well, good for Nick Kastner, Director of Brand and Digital Strategy at Forum Communications, it has certainly been a huge part of developing strategy for clients. From the healthcare sector, non-profits, churches, and so much more, there is a strategy to communicating brand, creating content, advertising, marketing, and telling other companies' stories that Forum has been a part of creating. Ever asked your friend a dumb question not expecting them to say yes? A decade ago, Zack Tatum asked his buddy Jason Marlowe if they should join forces and create a marketing agency together, and Jason said yes! For the last 10 years, Market House has been focused on "doing good by helping others do good" in their marketing, design, branding, websites, SEO, writing, and probably some more that I do not know about. The draw to Hall was strong for Zack and he is a happy part of our community who loves what he does, and is excited each Monday! We also love that he celebrates the best that his team has to offer and allows them to run in their own lanes and celebrates what they are good at! Listen to how important consistent messaging is in your marketing, how a blog might be the thing that helps your location on that Google search, and how we don't have to message with that stuff, "Mad Men" style of marketing in 2023! This really was a fun conversation! The name pulls no punches, in Hall County, we have an organization specifically for victims of sexual assault. Listen to Janie Steckenrider share her experience as a Sane Nurse that specializes in forensic medical care and share the amazing and hard work that happens within this community. Sexual Assault happens more than anyone wants to even begin to imagine, and we are angry that this needs to be a service within the community, but so grateful that they do the work that happens at R**e Response. The thing that sticks out to us in this episode is that there is help, there is hope, there are people who want to support you in all aspects of the process of dealing with the trauma that has been inflicted, and you do not have to go through this alone or at the sake of all of your financial resources. Janie also shares some of the major warning signs in domestic violence that need to be seen as well as some of the medical implications of those warning signs that accompany domestic violence.

Picking up a stranger and taking them to stay in your basement... Maybe not something that you would do, but that was the start of My Sister's Place. A shelter for women experiencing homelessness, there is hope that comes from the community and the beauty of what is happening thanks to Jennifer Bero and Luane Thomson to care for another part of Hall County! Listen to the stories of how people find community and spend some time getting back on their feet at My Sister's Place. How is this funded, or how can you get involved? Glad you asked! First, go head on Over to My Sister's Place Boutique to purchase items curated from generous donations that help provide much of the funding for the shelter. They also run primarily on individual and corporate donations, so check out their website to see how you can partner. We know that there is a loving place for community and restoration to occur in this community and we are grateful for the care that they have for the lives and families that are changed!

Two-time guest for his work leading Water at Work Ministry and his work as an Author of 2 books is celebrating a birthday today! Let’s wish Tom Flaim a Happy Birthday!!

It’s Tom Flaim’s birthday today!! 🥳 If you didn’t know, Tom is the reason why Water at Work exists today! Back in 2006 he took his first mission trip to the Dominican Republic and well, the rest as they say is history!

Today we celebrate this incredible leader who is not only a visionary, but also a humble and sacrificial servant of God. Thank you, Lord for calling him to your service so many years ago and for all of the lives you’ve impacted through this ministry since.

Tom is turning 65 today. If you haven’t donated to our spring campaign yet, we’d love for you to donate $65 (or any increment) in honor of his birthday. It will be matched if you give by Friday 3/31!

1,400 acres of preserved land in the middle of Hall County managed by an organization sounds like a dream, right? Well, it's real and it is managed by Elachee Nature Science Center under the supervision of President and CEO, Sarah Bell. Sarah has served the community in Hall County for years and has taken the role at Elachee to help create programs, grow and expand the work there to educate 25,000 students annually about the environment and nature, run an early childhood school focused around nature, create weekend programs with naturalists to have the engagement with children and the environment, summer camp programs for children...and ADULTS!! Take a listen to learn how our children have been affected by Elachee, how you can get engaged with what is happening there, or just go check out some of the serenity that exists in and around the county by an escape to a place set aside for nature to exist. We are so excited for what is to come with Elachee, and don't take our spot for the Sips and Stargazing event that we have proposed... because we want to experience it, too!

Did you know that someone advocates for personal property rights locally, or that there is a group that cares about having good Real Estate transactions locally? Well, Jessica Wade, Real Estate Agent is the treasurer of the Hall County Board Of Realtors and a State Director for the Georgia Association of Realtors as well as helping those buy and sell homes around Hall! Listen as we discuss some of the market realities of the last few years, the market as of March of 2023, and where we might be trending, and then see some of the fun of Real Estate. Also, how should you pick a real estate agent? That seems like a no-brainer, just go with the friend who got their license and sold one property 5 years ago... no, find someone that you can sit down with, and talk goals and the realities of shopping and selling your home. One that will act with your best interest in mind, and depending on your needs, can help you with a quick transaction, or a well-thought-out, timed, and perfectly executed transaction that might take time. Everyone has a different goal in real estate, so make sure you know if your agent is going to be the right fit for you!

Life. Faith. Beer. Rev. Tyler Jackson moved to Hall County in the summer of 2022 and with a heart for the community and a legacy program that had stopped meeting due to COVID, he could re-imagine a gathering for those who wanted to talk about life or faith but were not excited about doing that within the confines of the traditional church times or settings. Through intentional and focused listening, partnership, relationships, and a leadership style that comes with incredible humility and shared responsibility, Love On Tap was re-born. Their meetings take place at Liquid Nation Brewing (formerly Left Nut Brewing). Love On Tap as 2 main components at the time of publishing the episode, 1) Creating space for community and relationship through fun gatherings (like family trivia) often with a service aspect monthly and 2) weekly gatherings for discussion, food, and community development. If life, faith, or beer is anything that you would discuss, meeting with them for the weekly gatherings might be an excellent place to start!
