(song - "I Am Death")
Blue Cross is a Canadian deathrock band formed in 2010 as a side project of Germ Attak, by Jess as vocalist and Jo Galiepeau as instrumentalist. After releasing their self-titled demo in the year of starting, throughout next three years they kept releasing one full album per year, that being "Mass Hysteria", "I Am Death" and "Conspiracy".
I discovered Blue Cross through their cover of Marilyn Manson’s "Man That You Fear", that has been released on their 2012 album "I Am Death". The sound is minimalistic, yet emotional and soaked with an impression of brokenness. It immediately charmed me, causing me to check band’s whole discography.
The sound of Blue Cross is dark, rough, emotional and haunting in a way that is not otherwordly nor ethereal, but in one that feels close to everyday problems and feelings of alienation. In my opinion, it is deathrock in its purest form, that I believe, if not yet well known, will be loved by fellow deathrockers.
Some of Blue Cross’s albums has been released on cassettes by various underground labels. Their full discography is available on Bandcamp ⚰️
