Over the years, we have had the privilege of translating groundbreaking foreign literature from all over the world into Maltese – and we don’t plan on stopping anytime soon! What’s better than a school visit? Being asked to return to read the sequel! Last year I did a virtual visit to a lovely primary school in Massachusetts, where I read ‘Ellie and the Cupcakes.’ This afternoon, I’m going to read ‘Oh, Ellie!’ to them. I can’t wait! ❤️

I had no money growing up. My dad was a labourer and my mum did everything to make ends meet. Men worked hard. Women worked miracles. But education was free. As was the local library. I knew books were my passport to a better life.

This has to be one of my favourite stories by the fabulous Amanda Kidd.

I think I always loved the part in Alice in Wonderland where Alice changed size. Such a great way to change our perspective on things and look at our existing world in a new way.

Ellie is an adventurous girl and she also loves CUPCAKES! This is a marvellous story about what happens when she makes wishes to be a giant by a wishing well and the problems that ensue.

I love the little touches in this, like the cupcake recipe in the back of the book! A perfect Christmas gift for any cupcake fan!
