PFNHS Green Ink Chronicles An online counterpart of Green Ink Chronicles, the Official English Student Publication of PFNHS. It is the start of our training. STRIVE. That's why we prevail.

GIC Story: A Relentless JOURNey

We have come a long way together. Every piece of paper is our shoe, every drop of ink is our fuel, every unique story is our wing, and everything that has to be told will be our goal. Indeed, each of us has encountered tough days to face and embrace --- as countless obstacles tried to block us on the way. We, the campus journalists of GIC, remind ourselves with one

thing --- to desire not just to win every competition and reach every finish line but to learn from every struggle to not step back so we can achieve our greater goal. We will always be READY, SET, and GO for a relentless JOURNey! READY
It was three oโ€™clock in the afternoon when the iconic bell sound awakened Paradisian souls, thinking that they have just reached their finish lines for the day but it's not the case for us. We immediately packed our bags and prepared ourselves again, for we were just getting ready for another lap to run. We started from weekdays, adjusted it to three days a week until it became two days. We consume the rest of our day in packing new learnings to help us in our JOURNey. It is the time when we unconsciously "emerge" as we improve in writing, revising, editing, capturing, drawing, brainstorming and all the other journalistic tasks repeatedly. We underwent trainings and seminars to be able to learn all the ways, styles, and categories of writing. Time passed and we were transformed to be the greatest athlete of ourselves. Our SPAs guided us and brought out the best in us to emerge as responsible campus journalists. SET
In our run, we have obstacles as our luggage. We had our 'stops' just like any other high school student. We started with the number of 14 but only eight stayed. We had our frustrations and desperations due to a lot of responsibilities to carry as students and journalists that we sometimes fail to juggle. But, these didn't easily strip off our aspirations to serve the people. Our eagerness to write helped us to continue every single day. We weren't taught to merely cry like a dog battered in the street. We echo the voice of the voiceless and this will be our 'undying passion'. As we take the next step in our JOURNey, Ma'am Imelda Montes, retired English Department head, decided to give a name for the aspiring journalists like us to be recognized. This was the birth of Green Ink Chronicles in the S.Y. 2017-2018 with a tagline "EMERGE. PREVAIL.", as suggested by Mr. Jorell Finez, a former GIC sports writer. The newsletter version, PFNHS Express back then, was initiated by Miyaka Rhinoa Reyes until finally, the first publication of GIC was made and spearheaded by Editor-In-Chief Hana Coyoca in the school year 2017-2018 while Jobelle Morato and D Jay Love Moreno took charge in the following years. GO
We strive but it will be never enough. We have reached a lot of milestones, a lot of first times, and a lot of achievements for running the GIC in three years and more. We have gone through a lot of obstacles but here we are, still going through in and outside of the campus. We prevail through our service and extend it in social media. Since we only publish the school newspaper once a year and not all news will be included there, this page was created-a platform used to update all Paradisians whenever there's a breaking news in our school and other important announcements. We never stopped, we just pause for a while, rest, and GO again. That's the story behind the lotus which represents the GIC. Just like a lotus, we managed to bloom gracefully inspite of coming from a seed that grew in a mud from a troubled water in a river. Every drop of our tears from hardships became a way of giving and refilling the colors to our passionโ€”like an ink that fades and runs out in some hard times. READY, SET, GO! Then a bang from a gun has shot, signaling to start a new marathon for us to run, a new JOURNey. There's no stepping back once we set our goals and go for it. We are now READY enough to serve not just in our school, PFNHS, but also for the public. We are SET to be a journalist in our own right once and forever, and we will GO with the package of learnings, not with the luggage of obstacles. We are now on the march, running for the people and leading for the truth. News has no rest and so we'll continue. There will be no more finish line for us to stop, just new laps to restart.

"Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and an idle person will suffer hunger."
Proverbs 19:15

In this verse, โ€œslothfulness casts into a deep sleepโ€ means that laziness makes a person unmotivated, which results in missed opportunities. It is not about literal sleep, but about a spiritual and mental dullness that causes one to neglect responsibilities. Laziness is not just a waste of workโ€”it is a waste of opportunities.

An idle person who refuses to work or ignores their duties will eventually face the consequences such as hunger, poverty, and lack of progress. This hunger symbolizes the effects of idleness, both physically and spiritually.

This verse is similar to the saying: โ€œWhat you plant is what you harvest.โ€ Doing your duties today is like planting seeds that will bring a harvest tomorrow. But if you refuse to work, you cannot expect to gather the fruits of your labor. Those who live with wisdom, diligence, and discipline will be the ones who enjoy the blessings of their hard work.

The Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board (PCAB) has revoked the licenses of nine companies owned by Pasig City Contractor Sarah Discaya on September 1, 2025, as she had them vied in a single government project contract bidding.

According to the Board, Discayaโ€™s multiple bidding matter could exploit the outcome of public bidding.

The Department of Public Works and Highways has suspended the local infrastructure projects' bidding to ensure greater security in the process.

"House and wealth are inherited from father's, but a prudent wife is from the Lord."
Proverbs 19:14

A family is unique in every way. Parents can pass down houses, money, jewelry, or other material possessions to their children, but a prudent wife is a kind of wealth that no one can simply acquire.

Prudent is an adjective that describes wisdom. Having a prudent wife is truly a gift and blessing from Godโ€”one that helps a family thrive, being guided not merely by beauty or charm but by wisdom. Material things fade over time, but a wise and God-fearing wife continues to shape the family for generations.

This verse reminds us that the most valuable treasure in a household is not money or material possessions, but a loving and wise mother who helps form both the family and the children. And remember, this does not only apply to the mother who gave birth to you, but also to anyone who lovingly stepped into that role.

The House of Representativesโ€™ committee on appropriations has started its deliberations on the Department of Educationโ€™s proposed โ‚ฑ928.52-billion budget in 2026, the biggest in its history and is around 18% higher than this yearโ€™s โ‚ฑ782 billion.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the increase is โ€œone of the largest in the last decade,โ€ saying it will be used to hire 65,000 new staff, raise teacher allowances to โ‚ฑ10,000 monthly, give over 200,000 laptops to teachers, deploy 10,000 school counselors for students with mental health issues, fund textbooks, facilities, digital and feeding projects, as well as the government assistance and subsidy programs.

Mikaela Suansing, House Appropriations Panel Chair Representative, urged DepEd to spend the budget โ€˜efficiently,โ€™ as she also cited many students experiencing learning crisis.

Going off an โ€œall sectorโ€ effort, the Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara announced on Wednesday, September 3 their plan to address the classroom shortage by involving the local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations and the private sector.

The said plan is being considered as a โ€œbig policy shiftโ€ as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) directs most of the school building projects up until present, which Angara described as a โ€œprocess that has faced challenges in speed and efficiency.โ€

โ€œEvery classroom we add brings hope and opportunity to learners. But delays in construction mean children wait longer than they should,โ€ Angara said in a statement.

"A foolish son is ruin to his father, and a wife's quarreling is a continual dripping of rain."
Proverbs 19:13

Once upon a time, in a quiet village nestled between two hills, there lived a man whose house was slowly crumblingโ€”not from storms or fire, but from the people within it.

His son, once the joy of his youth, had grown reckless and proud. The father had planted seeds of wisdom, watered them with discipline and prayer, but the soil of the boyโ€™s heart had hardened. Each foolish choiceโ€”each lie, each wasted opportunityโ€”was like a crack in the foundation. Neighbors whispered, the father aged, and the legacy he had hoped to pass on felt like sand slipping through his fingers. โ€œA foolish son is ruin to his father,โ€ said the old prophet, and the man knew it not just as a proverb, but as lived truth.

Inside the same home, the manโ€™s wife had grown wearyโ€”and sharp. Her words, once gentle as wind through rice fields, now fell like rain on a tin roof: constant, cold, and unrelenting. It wasnโ€™t rage, but repetition. Every quarrel echoed through the walls, a drip that never dried. Peace became a stranger. โ€œBetter to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife,โ€ Proverbs 21:9 says, and though he loved her still, he longed for silence more than one ever would.

And so, the man sat one morning beneath the tree, watching dew gather on the leaves, praying for wisdom to rebuild what had been undone. He understood now that a home is not made of wood and stone, but of hearts that choose humility, grace, and peace.

A foolish son and a quarrelsome spouse are not just difficultโ€”they are destructive. Yet the proverb is not a condemnationโ€”it is a call to wisdom. It urges us to raise children in truth and grace, to cultivate gentleness in speech, and to seek harmony over dominance. The home is sacred ground, and every word spoken within it either builds or breaks. โ€œBetter a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife,โ€ says Proverbs 17:1.

Peace is not found in abundanceโ€”it is found in understanding. So yes, a house may be built with stone, but it is held together by wisdom and peace. Without them, even the strongest walls will echo with ruin and drip with unrest.

Once upon a time, a man had built a houseโ€”but now, he longed to build a sanctuary.

Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Bulacan first district engineer Henry Alcantara admitted during a Senate Blue Ribbon hearing on Monday, September 1 that he has entered casinos two to three times a month while in office, sometimes with fellow officials, using fake IDs to bypass the Administrative Codeโ€™s gambling ban for government employees.

The said hearing also tackled alleged ghost flood control projects and padded allocations in Bulacan, with senators citing possible syndicates and misuse of public funds.

Proverbs 19:12

Power, when untempered, can roar louder than justice.

The proverb paints a vivid contrast: the kingโ€™s wrath, like the growling of a lion, evokes fear, urgency, and danger. It is the sound before the strike, the warning that judgment is near. In ancient courts, a monarchโ€™s displeasure could mean exile, silence, or death. And yet, this image transcends monarchyโ€”it speaks to any figure of authority whose anger carries weight. Like a lion guarding its pride, wrath is not random; it is protective, territorial, and often provoked by betrayal. Ecclesiastes 8:4 reminds us, โ€œSince a kingโ€™s word is supreme, who can say to him, โ€˜What are you doing?โ€™โ€ The wise do not dismiss such powerโ€”they discern its rhythm, its purpose, and its danger.

But then comes the dew. Gentle, quiet, life-giving. The kingโ€™s favor is not loudโ€”it is tender. It rests on the grass without announcement, nourishing what was dry, softening what was brittle. This is the kind of grace that transforms rather than terrifies.

It is the smile after the storm, the hand extended after discipline. Psalm 30:5 echoes this rhythm: โ€œHis anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime.โ€ The wise understand that favor is not earned by flattery, but by integrity. And when it comes, it is not just reliefโ€”it is renewal.

To live under wrath is to walk on trembling ground. But to live under favor is to grow. The one who seeks favor must not fear the lionโ€™s growl, but learn from it. They must walk humbly, speak truthfully, and act justly. For even the lion, when at peace, guards rather than devours. And the dew, though soft, is not weakโ€”it is the quiet force that sustains the field.

So yes, power can roar louder than justiceโ€”but favor, when given by the righteous, speaks louder than wrath ever could.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla has admitted his "fault" for announcing class and government work suspensions late on Monday, September 1.

Remulla said that the weather system โ€˜unexpectedlyโ€™ shifted northward by 3 a.m., but he was not yet awake to revise the DILG's list of class suspensions, as he woke up at 6 a.m.

He said he did not anticipate Mondayโ€™s heavy rains in Luzon, noting that forecasts the night before did not predict the systemโ€™s northward shift.

The DILG shared the list of class suspensions on Facebook at 5:35 a.m., acknowledging that the notice was delayed.

The Senate blue ribbon panel cited contractors in contempt for not attending the hearing on 'anomalous' flood projects on Monday.

Sen. Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa moved for contempt against summoned attendees who were absent from the Sept. 1 investigation.

Ma. Roma Angeline Rimando of St. Timothy Construction and Eumir Villanueva of Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc. were the absentees of the said hearing.
