Heart change starts in the mind. 🧠

This is why Paul also writes in Romans:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

When we set our minds on worldly things, on things of the flesh, we are leading ourselves into death and self-destruction.

But when we set our minds on the things of the Spirit, the very things of God, we walk into life and peace.

You have more control over this than you think.

It’s in what you consume every single day that the decision is made as to what your mind is set on.

What are you setting your mind on? 💭

There are definitely more, but here are 3 reasons to read your Bible! 📖

1. It encourages you 🕊️

Above all, the message of the Bible is a message of hope. No matter what you’re going through, the Bible has something to say about your situation that will encourage you and lift you up.

2. It teaches you 🧠

Every page of the Bible is filled with wisdom, practical knowledge, and absolute gold mines about who God is, who you are, and what life is all about. The amount that we can learn from it is endless.

3. It changes you 🫀

If the Bible encouraged you and taught you but didn’t change you, it wouldn’t be the true Word of God. The Bible is a living word that shapes the very fabric of our being to be more like Christ. That in itself is the true treasure of the Bible.

🫵 Pick up your Bible today!!

I can’t help but continuously be reminded of how the Israelites refused to go up Mt. Sinai themselves to meet with God.

Even though the Creator of the universe had invited them up into His presence, they refused out of fear and made Moses go alone in their place.

And when I think about this, I think… how much of our church culture today is the same way?

How many times do we make our pastors, mentors, and influencers go up to the mountain on our behalf so that we can reap from where they’ve sown without even experiencing God for ourselves?

Make sure you go up the mountain yourself. For in the day of judgment, your pastor’s relationship with God won’t save you. And today, it won’t change you.

Sometimes, the Christian life can feel like running around putting out fires of sin. 🔥

One day, you’re dealing with lying. The next, you’re struggling to spend time with God. The next, you’re finding yourself full of pride. But, in truth, it all comes back to your heart. 🫀

Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?”

We quote this often, but we never talk about the very next verse:

“I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.”

We can’t treat our hearts, but God can. You can stop trying to put out fires with your own efforts of righteousness and instead, spend time with God so that He can shape and change your heart. 🤍

It is not enough to simply believe in God.

You must also believe Him, that what He says is true and that He is who He says He is.

Once you do that, you are truly on your way to having a genuine relationship with Him.

Food for thought.

We really need to stop giving Satan more credit than he deserves...

He didn't make you do that - you did that.

As long as we continue to blame him for our bad decisions, we will never be able to grow as followers of Jesus.

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. ~ James 1:14-15
