SEASON 5 STARTS NOW! We're so thankful for a new year and to be able to continue talking about the things we love! As always thank you so much for joining us! Star Wars has decided to start off the year with a bang by unexpectedly announcing a new film: THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU! Following the ranks of Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi film, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy's New Jedi Order Rey film, and Filoni's Mandoverse film, The Mandalorian and Grogu will be directed by Jon Favreau and will kick off this new era of Star Wars films.
Today we start off our episode by discussing the news before moving to our main topic: Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon. Zack Snyder had originally pitched this movie to Lucasfilm as a Star Wars film, and after being turned down, decided to rework it as an original story. The Star Wars influences are undeniable and we review and discuss the film to see if it is a successful launch to a new sci-fi franchise!

After a couple of slow weeks, news broke on Vanity Fair that Dave Filoni has been promoted to Chief Creative Officer (CCO). What does this mean for Star Wars moving forward? 2023 has seen the return of the blockbuster summer! However, it seems that a lot of the movies that should be doing extremely well at the Box Office don't seem to be doing to hot. The Flash was a critical and financial failure, and while Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny has been well received, it is not doing so great. With the Goliath double feature of Barbie and Oppenheimer (and can't forget that new Mission:Impossible) on the horizon, we wonder what's been going on and leads us to wonder about lessons Lucasfilm can learn as we start (responsibly) speculating the upcoming return of Rey and her New Jedi Order in 2025.

At long last, INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY is here! We've been looking forward to Indy's return to the big screen and today we can finally talk about it! Who else can we talk about this movie with than with our friend Alex Damon from Star Wars Explained? We talk about everything, from Indy's characterization, the villains, Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Helena, Harrison Ford's de-ageing, the Antikythera mechanism, and... TIME TRAVEL! No one's ever really gone... and today, MOE IS BACK! On today's very special episode Moe and I chat about last week's surreal experience of attending the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny premiere! We saw Steven Spielberg, Harrison Ford, George Lucas, and JOHN WILLIAMS! It was so incredible to be able to be in such a once-in-a-lifetime event and very humbling to watch this film early! We do a quick spoiler-free review before jumping over to our main topic!
We return to chat Star Wars, and today we discuss the legacy of the Skywalker lightsaber! First wielded by Anakin, then by Luke and finally by Rey, this weapon has had many readings throughout the trilogies. In the Sequel Trilogy it is treated as an Excalibur-esque weapon, full of mythic weight and depth, but... was this portrayal justified? Was it effective? Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 was truly an incredible experience. Besides being very lucky to present as a Podcast on the Holonet News Stage, I was very privileged to be invited to host another very important panel on the Fan Stage! As many listeners know, we here at Triad advocate strongly for representation in media and in Star Wars, and for this panel the topic was extremely important to us: The Importance of LatinX Representation in Star Wars! With three leads of some of the main Star Wars shows being Latinx, what does it mean for our representation currently and going forward? It was truly memorable experience and I was very lucky to be joined on the stage with some other amazing members of our community including ⁠⁠Kari Guerrero (EstarGuarsTía)⁠⁠, ⁠Danielle Schwertner⁠, and ⁠Rafael Moyamayor⁠. There insight was incredibly valuable and this conversation was very meaningful to me (and hopefully all those in attendance).
We're very proud to finally be able to present this conversation to everyone who wasn't able to attend this panel in person! Special shoutout to ⁠Andrés Cabrera⁠ for organizing this amazing panel and trusting me with hosting duties!

This one is really special gang! Ever since Star Wars: Visions Vol. 1 we had been thinking about the potential of this series tackling Star Wars from other cultural perspectives, especially ones from Latin America. With the announcement of Vol. 2, we were so excited to see this potential fulfilled! As we've mentioned before, Vol. 2 was a rousing success for us and in particular on of the episodes: In The Stars! This short, done by Punkrobot Estudio Audiovisual⁠ (a studio from Chile), talked about all the themes we as a podcast have been advocating for and waiting to see in these Star Wars stories. Today we are so incredibly privileged to present our interview with Oscar winning director of Bear Story, Gabriel Osorio⁠! This was an extremely meaningful chat and Gabriel was very incredible, sharing very good insight about his episode. We truly hope you enjoy this interview! We are still thinking about Star Wars: Visions Vol. 2! All of the episodes were phenomenal, but ⁠El Guiri Studios⁠' SITH definitely stands out to us as one of the stories we enjoyed the most. Today we're so very excited to present to everybody a roundtable interview we were able to participate in, where we talk with ⁠Rodrigo Blaas⁠, the director of SITH! We were so lucky to be able to be a part of this, massive thanks to Disney and Lucasfilm for the opportunity. Everybody had some very interesting questions for Rodrigo, and he had some very insightful answers for us that really deepen our view of this episode. We hope you enjoy this interview! Join us in this special (albeit short) episode as we discuss and review this wonderful new follow-up to the already great Visions Vol. Also, we were extremely lucky to be invited to participate in an interview with the Executive Producers of Visions: James Waugh, Josh Rimes, and Jacqui Lopez. It was so much fun to talk to this amazing group, and got some pretty cool insight into this amazing series.
