In both February and October of 1976, Elvis recorded music in the jungle room that ended up on his last two albums. While singing, Elvis used the step between the kitchen and jungle room as a small stage.
This was his view.
Today, the patterned kitchen carpet extends to this step but in Elvis’s time, it was covered with the green s**g of the jungle room.

A beautiful voice and awesome musician from Memphis. I’ve had the privilege of seeing Van Duren play several times when I’m town and try to line up my travel dates to catch his set at Mortimer’s. He’s so talented and a great guy. So excited to finally see his documentary!

September 1978, Priscilla and Vernon Presley at the unveiling of a bronze Elvis statue at the Hilton Hotel, Las Vegas. It’s still there even though the hotel is now the Westgate.
Yours truly got to see it in 2003 ✨

July 27, 1975: Mennie Person was admiring a custom Cadillac at a Memphis dealership when it turned out to be one Elvis just bought. Elvis appeared and told her to pick out one she liked. Mennie was ecstatic and chose a gold and white one worth $11,500. When Elvis learned she just had a birthday, he wrote her a check to go shopping.
Here is Mennie and her 14 year old daughter Vassanta at their home with the new car, at 1868 Meadowhill St in Memphis. Google Earth shows their old home and a more recent view
Vassanta passed in 2018, Mennie followed in 2021
