Our fourth episode of the sixth season of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast, with your host, Rodolfo C. Rivas, is out!

My guest is Marisa Goldstein. She is an experienced lawyer who has worked in the Legal Affairs Division at the World Trade Organization - WTO for many years and has undoubtedly left her mark.

I have known her since the beginning of my career in International Trade, and she is a well-known and well-liked figure in the community. We've collaborated on several occasions and even shared the thrill of racing together.

My conversation with Marisa was delightful and insightful. I am thrilled to share it with you, and I'm sure you'll find it as engaging as I did!

The third episode of the sixth season of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast with your host Rodolfo C. Rivas is out!

My guest is the delightful Ana Laura Lizano, Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the World Trade Organization - WTO.

Ana has worked in International Trade for many years, including in the private sector, the government, and in diplomacy in Geneva for the last few years. This is where I met her. Although we have been in the same circles for several years, I haven't worked much with her, so I looked forward to our conversation.

We talked about International Trade, Diplomacy, the work she has been doing in the Trade and Environmental Sustainability Structured Discussions (TESSD) at the WTO, and also about movies, which I want to explore further with my guests in future episodes.

It was an insightful and fun conversation, but don't take my word for it. Listen for yourself.

This is our biggest season yet; we are celebrating 2.4K LinkedIn subscribers!

My guest has been a longtime listener, and I was happy to stroll down memory lane and listen to Miguel Antonio Villamizar Parra’s journey. We covered how he got interested in International Economic Law after briefly flirting with Marine Biology! He talks about the formative experience coaching the wunderkind team at the ELSA / John Jackson Moot Court and how he eventually made it to the World Trade Organization - WTO.

It was an insightful and fun conversation.

As an early Christmas treat, I have a bonus episode to mark the end of our biggest & meanest season of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast!

I am again joined by my colleague Marijke, but the roles are reversed this time.

Seeing how much fun Marijke had talked about ten influential films in her life, I decided to revisit my most influential movies and discuss them with her. I am glad she accepted my invitation; this time, she plays host, and I play guest.

I enjoyed the experience of thinking and preparing my list and talking to her.

I will do more of these episodes with some upcoming guests. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It is a long episode. You've been warned.

I can't wait for you to listen to it! I wish you a happy holiday season and an excellent 2024 when we will be back with some great guests.

A new episode of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast with your host, Rodolfo C. Rivas.

This was during the ZURICH FILM FESTIVAL, where I had the pleasure of meeting Kilian Riedhof, award-winning filmmaker known for "Gladbeck" (2018), “You Will Not Have My Hate" (2022), and his latest "Stella. A Life." (2023), which stars Berlinale best actress award-winner Paula Beer.

Kilian is a multi-talented Director and writer who studied at the Hamburg Film School. He was at the Zurich Film Festival to present his latest film, and that is when I had the pleasure to sit down with him to discuss his career, his craft, his latest film, and also a bit about what he is working on next.

As you know, I love films, and I enjoyed talking about films, techniques, storytelling, and some of the challenges faced when making a film and working as a filmmaker.

Kilian is a master of his craft and a delightful individual. I highly recommend watching his film, which has been a long-gestating project that he finally got to make.

It was a great conversation, and I can't wait for you to listen to it!

The ZURICH FILM FESTIVAL is here and The Rodolfo Rivas Project is back with another insightful conversation.

This time, we sat down with Kilian Riedhof, the talented director behind the festival's premiering film "Stella. A life". Starring Germany's very own Paula Beer, we talked about the film and Riedhof's extensive career in the film industry.

A new episode of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast just dropped! Listen to it in the links below.

My guest is Tayutic Mena, Counsellor, Permanent Mission of Costa Rica to the World Trade Organization - WTO.

Tayutic is a seasoned veteran among the delegates dealing with the WTO. I have been working with him for many years, and we have worked together in many negotiations, including the ITA expansion, EGA, and TiSA. Since then, he has become a celebrity in the WTO, thanks to his involvement in agriculture, a topic that is close to his heart, and by the way he describes it, it should be close to everyone's heart.

In our conversation, we covered a lot; from his background, growing up in Costa Rica, he talks about Costa Rica's strong interest in multilateralism and how they have decided to double down and be heard across all multilateral initiatives, successfully punching above its weight.

Our conversation was insightful, refreshing, and fun!

Tayutic is a class act and a pretty interesting individual.

Didn’t I say we had several great episodes in the pipeline?

Stay tuned for the latest episode of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast. Subscribe if you don’t want to miss it.

My guest is Barbara Ramos, Chief, Research and Strategies for Exports at International Trade Centre (ITC).

I’ve had plenty of interesting guests in the over 60 episodes across five seasons, and yet, Barbara stands out amongst them with a vibrant story spanning continents and experiences.

Barbara was attracted to International Relations early, and she has made a run at it since. She’s worked at Inter-American Development Bank and African Development Bank Group, an Embassy, and USAID, while also studying at The Fletcher School at Tufts University before joining ITC a few years ago. This is just the CliffsNotes; there’s a lot more.

She also provides some great replies to the new section in the podcast!

Barbara was a delight, and I was thrilled to talk to her in what I can guarantee you is an episode you don’t want to miss.

A new episode of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast just dropped!

Nir Baranga, Director, Trade in Services and Investment Department at the Foreign Trade Administration of the Ministry of Economy, Israel.

Nir is one of my earliest colleagues at the Ministry. We started around the same time and remain kicking and screaming. He is a frontline negotiator leading bilateral, plurilateral, and multilateral services negotiations for Israel.

When he visits Geneva, we usually talk about many things besides trade, and podcasts are one of them. We have wanted to do this podcast for some time, but fitting it into our busy schedules has been challenging.

Luckily, during his last visit to the World Trade Organization - WTO for the ongoing Joint Initiative on e-commerce, we managed to find some time to talk and record this interesting conversation covering his professional career and how his career path has changed a couple of times, and how in hindsight it all makes sense.

I am working on a couple of episodes, so stay tuned.

He was at the World Trade Organization - WTO for the ongoing Joint Initiative on e-commerce, and we managed to find some time to talk and record this interesting conversation covering his professional career and how his career path has changed a couple of times.

As promised, a new episode of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast with is out!

My guest is Dr. Geraldo Vidigal, Coordinator, LL.M. International Trade and Investment Law, University of Amsterdam / Universiteit van Amsterdam.

Geraldo, although young, is a veteran of the International Trade world. Ask anyone interested in trade, and they will know of him. I have known Geraldo for a long time, with our professional careers running in parallel.

We had an insightful conversation covering a lot of ground. We also got into some nitty-gritty of trade, but if trade is not your thing, there are plenty of other aspects worth listening to.

Geraldo also takes a stab at the new section of the podcast, and he does a great job at it. Stick to the end to listen to that.

The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast keeps growing. It has been five years, and although the growth is more linear, it sometimes feels exponential. The audience spans the globe.

Although it has been five years, I have been preparing for this my whole life. From staying up to watch late-night talk shows to countless hours listening to the radio and being an early adopter of podcasts that democratized the medium, this has been a long time in the making.

This is one of my passion projects, and although I do it in my free time, it nurtures my job and profession.

The fifth season keeps going strong! Episode 61 of The Rodolfo Rivas Project podcast is on the way!

My next guest is Castro Jorge, Chief of Section at the World Trade Organization - WTO’s Institute for Training and Technical Cooperation (ITTC).

Jorge is a very experienced professional on the regional and multilateral front. He worked for the Venezuelan government and then for the Andean Community before making his way to the WTO. He was in Legal Affairs for many years before a stint at Pascal Lamy's DG office and now as Chief of Section at ITTC.

We covered a lot of ground in our conversation, and if you stick to the end of the episode, you can hear a new section in the podcast, which I look forward to incorporating from now on.
