94 and Still Taking One Step More

Hello and Welcome to a Super Special Episode of Lunch with Shelley! I cannot underscore how important this episode is to me because it features my hero - my Dear Ole Dad. He is funny, smart, kind, and generous, and I am the luckiest girl in the world that he is my father. As I write on my website, even my love of lunch began with my father. Ever since I can remember he was always having lunch, either with colleagues or friends (famously he had a Friday lunch with two guys named Norman), and on my very lucky days he had lunch with me! Lunch with my father was always so special because it was US time - we always had fun, we laughed, and we always shared our food. I watched and learned from him all my life about everything from how he treated everyone he met, to what he was working on. AND not only is this episode taped around Father’s Day, but also my father’s 94th birthday! He continues to be his awesome self, and my admiration of him still grows each day. For anyone who has known me over the last 26 years or less, they know that the central focus of my world, and my extreme pride and joy, is my son Sam. I like to think that Sam and I have an especially close and special relationship because we’ve spent so much one on one time together over the years. I also like to think that we’re a lot alike in many ways. We generally have the same sense of humor – I think we look alike aside from the height difference – and we share many mannerisms, affectations and more. I am incredibly proud of the person that Sam is, and bursting that he agreed to be on the show!
