: Air Peace deploys plane to evacuate stranded Nigerians

Air Peace said on Thursday that it has deployed its aircraft to evacuate Nigerians stranded in Europe as a result of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Spokesman of the carrier, Stanley Olisa, said the deployment of its plane is the first batch of Nigerians to be evacuated since the war broke out.

The aircraft, he said departed Nigeria at 2:20 am on Thursday, for Warsaw, Poland.

The Federal Government engaged Air Peace and another airline to evacuate over 2,000 Nigerian nationals from neighbouring countries such as Poland, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia fleeing the war in Ukraine following the Russian invasion.

21-Year-Old Lagos Resident Ends His Life In The Lagoon.

A 21- year old man, Odunare Olalekan, took his life by diving into the lagoon in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Tuesday.

In a viral video, Olalekan, who was seen sitting on the handrail of a bridge, suddenly jumped into the water around Berger Bridge, Epe.

Sources told that Olalekan, who left a one-year-old baby behind, actually gave a clue of the mission he was embarking on when he left the house on the fateful day.

He was said to have told his father to pray for him.

“He also told his girlfriend who is 19-year old to take care of his baby. Thereafter, he left to the bridge side to commit su***de, without giving any reason for such action to his family.”
Olalekan was said to be an holder of Ordinary National Diploma (OND) certificate and a worker at Alaro City, a sprawling mega estate along the Lekki-Epe Expressway.

A family friend further narrated: “For some time now, Olalekan has been acting strangely. For more than a week, he couldn’t sleep. He just woke up on tuesday to say he was going. They asked him, ‘going where?

“They tried to hold him but he overpowered the people around because he was very powerful, maybe it was a spiritual attack. We could not ascertain that. He just woke up and said he was going and that they should pray for him. They held him but he overpowered them and went straight to his girlfriend’s house to tell her to take care of his child, because they might not see each other again.”

It was learnt that one of his brothers, who lives in Ajah, saw the trending video and alerted the family.

“He told their father that they should not bother looking for Lekan because he saw him on Berger Bridge as he jumped into the lagoon and he must have died,” the source further said.

Asked why the person who recorded him could not save him at the scene, the family friend said, “The person that made the video was alerted by the motorists on Lekki-Epe expressway and he was walking towards him while recording but he could not catch up with him.

“The guy was far away from him. He was about to hold him when he jumped inside the river. Nobody could hold him there except somebody who can swim.”

Olalekan’s co**se had not been found 48 hours after he dived into the lagoon.

Another source told our correspondent that the deceased’s elder sister, who was a student of Lagos State University (LASU), died a few months ago.

She reportedly slumped while writing exams and died afterwards.

2baba threatens N1bn defamation suit against Brymo

Legendary Nigerian singer, Innocent Idibia fondly known as 2baba, has slammed his colleague with a N1bn defamation suit if he does not apologise for defaming his character.

About two days ago, Brymo, in a long Twitter thread alleged that 2baba accused him of sleeping with his wife. He further alleged that 2baba sent thugs to beat him up.

While the Implication singer has kept mum about the allegation, he has sent his lawyers to Brymo instructing the singer to either apologise on all his social media accounts within the next 48 hours or he will be slammed with a N1bn defamation suit.

Brymo shared a screenshot of the letter via his Twitter page with the caption,” I have received this from Innocent Idibia’s lawyer’s, or so it reads… I’ll advise they go to court, as I insist on all my tweets asserted… they are not ‘nonsense'”.

The letter sent to Brymo reads, “We are solicitors to Mr Innocent (2baba), hereinafter referred to as “our client” and on whose instruction we write.

Your publication on Twitter that our Client “falsely accused you of sleeping with his wife,” and that our Client “was responsible for the attack” on your person, which attack “was for supposedly bedding his Mrs or for claiming the spot of the greatest artiste alive,” amongst other similar false allegation have been brought to our Client’s notice.

“The baseless and false accusation has caused unspeakable distress to our client and his family. You have also caused estimation to be lowered in the estimation of his friends, business associates and wilder members of the public and further caused him a significant loss of business.
__
Our Client will give you the benefit of the doubt, perhaps you were inspired to spew such nonsense after one of such self-confessed episode of “spending days getting high and philandering.” In which case, we demand that within 48 hours of receipt of this letter, you withdraw your statements, and publish on your entire social media accounts an unreserved apology to our Client and his wife. . .
