Recently, a big part of my country has been devastated by extreme weather conditions causing floods.
As a result, many houses and agricultural companies were destroyed and people got homeless.
All these made me think how important is to have a good emergency fund that you can rely on in these difficult times.
Also, every family should have an emergency plan to get support for a while.
Fortunately, material staff can be replaced.
So why to bother buying the most expensive houses, furniture, cars etc when everything can be lost in minutes?
Courage and good luck to all the people who are obliged to start over

My biggest August Expenses Categories
Plenty of expenses for August. Apart from the usual monthly bills i had also:
Car service, income tax and holidays abroad!
All these expenses were budgeted from the beginning of the year in my annual budget.
That's why i don't worry that for August total expenses were more that total income.
Part of these expenses will be paid during the following months.

Using credit cards is for me the ultimate way to indicate how much we can or can control ourselves on money spending.
It is quite easy to get whatever you want by paying with credit cards BUT the result is catastrophic as credit card debt is the worst debt there is. That's why some of the big financial coaches like David Ramsey suggest no credit cards at all.
On the contrary, i say a big YES to credit cards as long as you know how to use them.
Two are the rules:
1. We buy only whatever we can afford to pay
2. We pay the bills ON TIME AND IN FULL.
As long as you keep these rules in mind USE credit cards and get the benefits of cashback.
Note: personally i pay 95% of my expenses by credit cards and have zero interests.

September brings a lot of changes in my house.
New school, new english teacher.
I have estimated around 250 euros for the Category Child for this month.
Let's see how it is going to end.

Do you know what "kakeibo" mean?
I have just heart of this and realised that i have been applying it the last six years without knowing.
Actually what i do and also this Japanese budgeting method suggest are :

Note down expenses: fixed and variable

Analyze monthly income.

Decide upon the saving goal for next month.

Analyze how much you can spend.

And Comparing Planned vs Actual Expenses.

In fact, with kakeibo i bring awareness and mindfulnessiynowing why to buy something and if this is necessary.

👉 Starting over
Yesterday i watched this movie and i recommend it as an example of how a person can start over and built his life from zero.
The hero, Tom Hanks, after he got unemployed, his first step was to reduce his expenses and sacrifice his home.
Then, next step was to invest in himself by starting college at a late age.
Finally, he grabbed any opportunities appeared to find a job and start his life.
The most important of all was that he had positive people around him that led him start over.
Actually, this is the way if you feel down and you want to change and improve your life:
1. Make necessary changes like reducing your expenses
2. Invest in yourself
3. Find any job to have an income
4. Surround yourself with positive people.

Creative ideas on using one chicken
If you want to feed a family, chicken is the most versatile cooking ingredient and can be part of many meals.
So, one chicken in Greece costs around 6 euros, when on sale, 2,99 euros per kilo.
You can separate breasts from legs and use it in different recipes, as i did.
Of course, there are many other meals that i use chicken parts and may show you in the future.
If you want a frugal and also full of protein meal use chicken.

The total cost of my trip to Toulouse France was 1166 euros for 5 days and 3 people.
Of course, my share is not this amount.
A little bit over budget but it is the last holidays before school starts.
We had to be frugal since flight and accommodation were higher than expected.
Nevertheless, it was a great trip and what i call happy money.
Next step will be the necessary adjustments on the next months budget.

Happy money means money well and worth spent, shows your priorities and your additions and makes us happy.
Of course it represents something different for anybody.
Some people get very happy spending money on clothes, others on gadgets, others on good food or wine etc ...
And many people like me are addicted to traveling.
So, every healthy budget includes a category for happy money.

July expenses
The main categories of July expenses are:
🏠 Housing up to 44% of my income and
🥩 Groceries/food up to 34% a little more than the budgeted amount.
Fortunately, during this month i had a savings rate of 33% quite high which i will need for August expenses.

There is one skill that everyone can learn.
Nowadays, there are so many sites, pages, videos with recipes that you can watch.
Cooking is a very fulfilling and moneysaver skill.
Try and repeat. No need to be perfect.
Look for frugal recipes or recipes with few materials.
You will see a tremendous change on your expenses as soon as you cook at home instead of ordering or going to the restaurants. Plus you know what you eat.

If you have good friends you don't need money
A friend who offers you a week at his vacation house.
A relative who provides you with a bag of apples.
A colleague who gives you a lift home.
A neighbor who lends you her dress.
A job that offers you benefits.
All these can save you money and effort.
So, your social network means a lot!
