Yolanda Bennett better known as The Herbal Trucker has been a cannabis advocate for more than seven years. Her passion comes from being forced out of the logistics and trucking industry due to a medical condition created from prescribed pharmaceuticals that caused damage to her organs and skeletal system. Even though Yolanda loved trucking and became a disabled truck driver, she still needed medic

ation and could not use what she felt was the best option for her; cannabis. Although her happiest days were behind the wheel, she retired as a truck driver and began the journey of advocacy. In 2018, Yolanda co-founded the Georgia Medical Cannabis Society Inc. to serve the community and satisfy her passion for accessibility and financial feasibility for medical cannabis. She decided she needed to enter the battle of freeing this plant from the grasp of those who shamed and criminalized this tree of life. As a former Correctional Officer, she has seen with her own eyes people lose their freedom and have their futures altered due to the possession of cannabis, and she has chosen to join the fight to normalize consumption and usage of this healing plant. Her mission has grown and evolved into a podcast powered by The CannaShame Network called the CannaShame Podcast which Yolanda is the co-owner and co-host. The CannaShame Podcast focuses on removing and destroying the stigmas associated with the use of cannabis. Yolanda also has a graphics company, YLB, which includes video editing, website creation, and content creation in the form of memes and graphics for social media. This amazing advocate has passion and drive which has led to her success. Yolanda is married, born and raised in Georgia, and enjoys the complexity of politics on a local level.

"A new study says there’s little evidence that people experience a hangover or effects the day after consuming w**d. The findings call into question employer policies on testing workers for drugs, raising the question: If workers don’t experience lingering effects of THC, why should employers care what workers do the night before a shift?"

PRESS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
September 1, 2022

CANNASHAME NETWORK ANNOUNCES 2nd Annual CANNASHAME AWARENESS DAY
New cannabis media company creates day surrounding cannabis prohibition.

ATLANTA – The CannaShame Network will hold its first in-person event in observance of the unprecedented law that made cannabis and h**p products illegal through taxation in 1937. October 1st has been coined CannaShame Awareness Day and will be celebrated within in the Atlanta Cannabis Community.

CannaShame Awareness Day was created to show reverence to all of the people who have been shamed, incarcerated, or chastised for their cannabis consumption.

“It was an unjust law in the first place,” CannaShame Network co-founder and one-fourth member of the CannaShame Podcast said. “Harry Anslinger used racial propaganda to get a ridiculous law passed. That simple law in 1937, has led to the loss of freedom, life, and economic opportunities for a lot of people and we are here to say it is enough! We are canning the shame on cannabis usage. Free the people. Free the plant,” Bennett concluded.
CannaShame Awareness Day will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022, at East Atlanta Treehouse in East Atlanta Village. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite.

ABOUT CANNASHAME NETWORK:
The CannaShame Network was started by founders Yolanda Bennett and Angela Weston in 2020. After working in advocacy and with patients and living with the stigma of cannabis consumption, they decided to take their movement to the airwaves. After partnering with Tianna Smith and Arica Jay of The H**p House and formed The CannaShame Podcast. The goal of the podcast is to change the public and legal stigma of cannabis consumers. Together this team of four is working diligently to stop and eradicate the canna shame. CannaShame headquarters is located in Austell, Georgia.

*The CannaShame Podcast returns for season 2. This season has a new look and a new feel to it due to the evolution of the mission. The former collaboration was between the Georgia Medical Cannabis Society and The H**p House, but GMCS felt the need to reach more and has passed the torch to the CannaShame Network, to reach a larger scope of people to ensure this mission is successfully implemented and mobilized.

I understand the concept, but I'm still puzzled by why aren't insulin, cancer meds, and other expensive pharmaceuticals available for patients who are in desperate need and are having to make a choice between their meds or other necessities.

There are so many veterans, women, men, and children are without a safe place to lay their heads all while the priorities of those in charge are focused on issues like this.

Instead of taking that money and setting up rehabilitation programs for those individuals, they chose this.

And they are providing resources for places like this, and cannabis is still illegal federally and it is just a plant.
