In this video I spent the day exploring the Blackwater River State Forest in NW Florida, driving down some trails, doing a couple easy water crossings, and having a ton of fun. This is such a beautiful area and a great place to do some light offroading in the Maverick!

I had a blast this past weekend running the Blackwater River Route 1 Trail in the Blackwater River State Forest here in Northwestern Florida.

OnX rates the trail as a 5/10 in technicality which I think is a bit extreme... I'd say it's more like a 1 or 2/10 for 99 percent of the trail; very managable and easily navigated in the Maverick FX4.
A lot of the route is really just hard-packed red clay road, hardly a "trail," but the Eastern end where I started was a much more tight trail winding through the woods, up and down hills, and through a small creek.
In fact, there were 2 creek crossings on this route, one close to each end, and both were bvery easy even accounting for the recent rain. They are both hard rocky bottom, and were 8-10" deep max if you hugged the shallow side. No problem for the Mav.

The rest of the route was very simple dirt road driving, but there was a lot of loose, sloppy red clay that I got to throw all over the truck! Below the shallow layer of muck was very hard ground though, and you'd really have to try to get yourself stuck.

The only part of the trail I'd say lives uo to OnX's rating is a very short section toward the upper Western side of the route that is a short run of very deep mud holes, completely impassable by a Maverick. Luckily there is a solid bypass trail to go around this part.

Overall, this was an awesome way to spend a morning and get the truck dirty.

I just uploaded the next episode of the Maverick Overland Build Series to my Youtube channel.
This episode details the installation, test, and review of the Nilight offroad light kit I installed on my truck. The kit I chose to go with includes a 12" 72w bar that I installed on the front bumper, 2x 4" 18w light pods I installed on the front of the roof rack, and the full plug-n-play wiring harness.
I've been very happy with it so far, and installing it couldn't have been easier.

Got my Bunker Indust recovery boards in the mail so when I get my "not a real truck" stuck in the mud doing things it "can't" do, I can get myself out (maybe)... 🤣

I havent had a chance to use them yet but man do they feel durable!
I'm working on some DIY bedside molle panels for my recovery gear right now that these will eventually be mounted on, but for now I just have them strapped to the bedside. Perfect fit between the tie-downs and on top of the fender!

A couple small watercrossings with the Maverick yesterday morning in the Blackwater River Forest. I ran through the creek a couple of times to get the camera angles and footage I wanted for a video that Im working on. This was fun!

Took a trip up to the Blackwater River State Forest today and did some mild offroading with the Maverick. It was a great way to spend the morning enjoying the outdoors!

The Maverick hit the big 40 today, a majority of these miles being adventure miles. Been an awesome truck so far and looking forward to many more miles to come!

Took a short drive up to the Conecuh National Forest in Southern Alabama over the holiday and did a little bit of exploring down some of the trails in the area, scouting for camp spots and things to do.
This area looks pretty awesome and is only about an hour drive north of my home, so I think Ill be doing an overland trip in the near future to film a new video 🫣

This past weekend I finally got the top (DIY unistrut) part of my rack painted to match the rest of the truck. I used a spray on Rustolium Truck Bed Liner. It worked pretty well. Very durable with 2 coats and looks great.
I also got my Nilight lights mounted to the front of it, although ill likely move the 12" lightbar to the front lower grill and leave the 2 smaller pods up there. I also plan to make some sort of wind fairing for the front of the rack. It's a work in progress, but the build is coming along nicely!

This isn't Maverick related, but look at this thing 😳

The exterior design is definitely... interesting...
While this brand isn't known for its quality, they are known for their excellent warranty so I am curious to see more of this vehicle. Kia's website shows it as being offroad-oriented and highly customizable, so could potentially be pretty interesting?

What are your thoughts?

Just uploaded a new Overland Build Series video to my YouTube channel! This one focuses on the DIY unistrut roof rack I've been working on for a while. It isn't quite complete, but it is almost there and has worked awesome for the last couple months I've been testing it. Good morning everyone!
There is a new podcast this morning over on my Youtube channel detailing all of the new and exciting changes coming for the 2025 Maverick.
Ford has really stepped up with this model year and implemented a lot of the major changes that everyone has been asking for in the past 3 years. I'm really excited to see some of the things they've added, especially the Tremor becoming it's own trim and the upgraded off road capabilities it now has.

Hey everyone, long time no see! Apologies for the lack of new content, I've been very busy. I'm back now though, and have a new video I just released over on my Youtube channel here: https://youtu.be/XnotMsZek8c

I've been looking for a portable firepit to take along on my adventures for quite a while now, so when a company called Flamurs Outdoor asked if I wanted to try out a new one they are developing I couldn't turn it down. Man, am I impressed with it. This thing is durable, convenient, and just plain awesome!

They'll have the firepit ready for sale this Fall (Sept-October timeframe), and I couldn't recommend it more. Great product.
