Magical day exploring the Torres Strait.

Bobby Island is a beautiful place and home to Indigenous rock art and graffiti in a number of shoreline caves. Known as Ngiangu by the its traditional owners, the Kaurareg people of the western Torres Strait. It was called B***y Island by a number of European explores, including Captain Cook, because of the seabirds, known as bo***es. Due to its position its famous for its "post office" in a small cave on its northern end. This post office was used by ships since the 1800's leaving mail in the caves for other passing vessels to receive.

With a group of beautiful people, this weekend we completed a beach clean up on a a remote island in the Torres Strait, Prince of Whales!

We collected over 600kg of waste washed up on the beach, majority of plastics from fishing vessels and bottles from Indonesia that gets washed up onto our beaches!

It was a heart felt day, seeing the community get together and make a real positive change!

Looking forward to many more to come!

Burnt out in the big city, I knew I needed to make a change.

While a career in nursing can be rewarding, I was working in a busy metropolitan emergency department, in a highly stressful environment, battling endless struggles of being understaffed, high patient ratios, long hours, and countless overtime shifts which definitely started to take its toll.

I opted for a sea change and have moved to this beautiful remote island in far North Queensland! My online side hustle has given me the ability only have to nurse part time and I have already felt a dramatic change in my life! My stress levels are reduced, I have time to enjoy the things I love and spend time with the important people in my life!
