Meet Julia Pimentel! She is our wonderful Editor-in-Chief and a writer📝 for Engineers' Forum. Julia is a Junior in Materials Science and Engineering. Her passion for both engineering and writing is what ultimately inspired her to join Engineers' Forum. Julia saw Engineers' Forum as a platform to communicate🗣 captivating engineering-related stories as well as grow in her leadership, writing, and teamwork skills at Virginia Tech. Some fun facts about our Editor-in-Chief is that she likes color guard🏴, beatboxing, playing the ukulele, and electric skateboarding. She's looking forward to when undergraduate students are able to come back into the engineering labs and work on hands-on👐 projects after the limitations of COVID-19 are diminished. Julia hopes everyone's staying safe and healthy! Her personal motto is: Always Aspire to Exceed Expectations. Make sure to check out the article she wrote in the September issue and send a warm welcome to Julia! Have a nice day!☀

Hello everyone, meet Dianna Kim!🎉 She is a writer and the Chief Copy Editor for Engineers' Forum. Dianna is a Junior completing a Public Relations and Professional and Technical Writing (PTW) major. Something fun about her is that she has a very impressive log of 300 hours on Animal Crossing! 🐥 Dianna joined Engineers' Forum because she has loved writing since she was very young. She also wanted to challenge herself by joining an organization that’s outside of her academic disciplines while still incorporating the things that she is passionate about. She said, " Engineers’ Forum seemed like the perfect opportunity to do that!" Dianna hopes to land a job after college with a company that aligns with her morals and will help her propel herself into future opportunities and experiences! She would also like to travel to many more places once COVID-19 is over! 🌍 Some words of wisdom Dianna would like to share with you is, "Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there! College is such a great time to try, do, and join so many things!"

As members of the Engineers’ Forum at Virginia Tech, we strive to connect our community through our writing. We also wish to use our platform to write and speak against injustice and to stand in solidarity with those who have been affected during these times.

Only by taking actions may we come to change society. Make change by signing petitions, donating to organizations, and starting conversations with each other about what is happening in our country. We must use our voices to speak up and our actions to make changes.

Please take time to educate yourself by finding organizations, fundraisers, and petitions to contribute to. Take initiative to learn and understand. We stand with those in support of social equity and racial justice.

Meet Kashyap Bhatt! He is a Sophomore in Mechanical Engineering major. He joined Engineers Forum to learn more about the engineering events going on around campus and he wanted to learn more about it. He also wanted to challenge himself to be better at writing. He said “The best part about it is that It is a space where i have the freedom to write about anything that I find interesting.” He is currently in the Virginia Tech Hyperloop team and was a part of an undergraduate research which deals with wearable exoskeletons (one step closer to being iron man). In the future, he wants to work in the field of robotics and hopefully start my own business. A fun fact about him is that he has never eaten pop tarts in my entire life. Look for his article in the February issue that just came out!
