The boys killed it in the Bassmaster High School Championship! Finished 10th out of 480 boats and got to take home some cash. They came up and practiced on their own this week and told me where to drive them! Very proud of these two

It doesn’t matter what name you have for this simple technique, it is hard to deny it’s effectiveness both shallow and deep 12 months out of the year. It is also quickly becoming one of the hottest ways to catch pressured ledge fish on the TN River.

The 3.5” and 4.5” Hog Farmer S***k Shads are the best soft plastic I have found for this rigging style. They are made from a floating plastic that helps the bait sit naturally in the water and the ribbed body adds profile to the lure and makes the bait have more presence in the water column. The subtle swimming of the tail can be achieved with the slightest movement of the rod tip. If you don’t believe me, go look at all the companies that have tried to imitate this deadly soft plastic!

The Bullet Cranks have definitely become a staple for me this year. The magnetic weight transfer system let’s me cast them farther than any crankbait in my boat which equals more time in the strike zone and more bites. Another bonus is that they pull significantly less than the competitors, meaning I can wind them harder and trigger more strikes from pressured fish!

Just finished up the Southern and Central Toyota Series divisions. This year has flown by already and I am 6 tournaments down into the year! Finished up the Southern division in 18th in points and qualified for the Toyota Series Championship this fall. Did not meet all of my goals for these tournaments, but qualifying for the championship was the ultimate objective. I am very thankful for the companies and individuals that have supported me along the way. Let keep it going 🚀

After a challenging first day, I picked up a Hog Farmer S***k Shad on day 2 and covered water in an area of the lake I hadn’t made a cast in during practice. Filled a nice limit and caught 2 kickers to jump me all the way into check range!

It pays to stick to your confidence! The setup I caught my comeback bag on was a 4.5” Electric Shad S***k Shad on the back of a Spot Remover Jackhammer. I wound this around with my 7’2” Meta rod and Concept C reel on rock and isolated wood. I have caught hundreds of fish on this combo and it produced 5 more for me this tournament when it counted!

Found my new favorite shallow/mid range plug this spring. It is the Hardcore Crank MR 60F by . This crankbait will fish circles around other baits in its class because of its magnetic weight transfer, that allows anglers to cast this lure with precision. This makes for more efficient casts that turn into more bites. Also, these are some of the most durable lures I’ve ever fished. All of these fish came on the same crankbait from different lakes and I still have it tied on. Try doing that with your balsa

Last week was filled with ups and downs, but I was always able to rely on my tackle to do their jobs throughout practice and the tournament.

Yo-Zuri Super Braid was put to the test this week in the cover we were fishing. Fishing like we were in tall pads and buggy whips are some of the hardest cover to get fish out of, and our braid never failed us!

Our second pattern that delivered quality bites every day was fishing offshore grass with a Yo-Zuri 3DB Jerkbait. I watched fish react to this Jerkbait specifically, and got significantly more bites than any other brand we threw. That was thrown on 12lb T7 fluoro.

Nobody wants to take pictures of your 16lb bag on the final day when there are 4 teams with over 25lbs tracking you down! So, here’s some pictures of us searching for a big bite.

Justin and I had a 1 lb lead on the top 10 field going into the last day and just could not find the quality we had been on the previous days. We lost this tournament on day 2 when we only weighted 4 fish for 13lbs, but it’s still a heck of a way to cap off my college career! Pretty sad to say these will be the last photos of me in a Bryan jersey, but I am pumped for the next chapter 🤙

Also slung the crap out of an ear on my prop running back to Toho. We looked like a NASCAR pit crew slapping a spare prop and hub on and making it to the lock on time

NOT the picture I want to be posting after day 1. Dead batteries left me stranded and missed weigh in. Thankful for good friends like that can lead the tournament and come to the rescue. Didn’t have much weight, but would have kept me in the hunt for a check. Tomorrow is a new day and we will get the boat on charge and in the water again tomorrow morning 🤙

The Florida pre-spawn funk got the best of me on day 1 of the Toyota Series. I ditched everything I found in practice and fished the conditions I was given on day 2 and things just fell into place. Found a spawning pattern the second half of the day and had a blast sight fishing until weigh in. Ended up with 20lbs and made a huge comeback from 103rd place to just missing the top 25 cut by ounces. God is so good!

Super excited to start the next chapter of my fishing career in just under a month! I will be fishing a couple divisions of the MLF Toyota Series events starting with the Harris Chain in a few weeks.
