WHEN THE INEVITABLE HAPPENED. I GOT FRACTURED BEFORE I CRASHED
To everyone, please relax before reacting. Make sure to read first before giving your comments.
I am posting this for public awareness and not for discouragement. I love and am enthusiastic about electric unicycle (EUC) and this is for real.
Disclaimer: I’m not a beginner rider. I ride my EUC every single day as a means of transport. I have already conquered and looped North and South of Cebu with my EUC.
Now unto what happened. I was riding my electric unicycle at a slow enough speed, about 10kph-15kph (6mph-8mph) when I ran over an unmarked, a small, and inconspicuous speed bump that I was not ready for. I felt my leg give up on me and I crashed down on the pavement, no scratches, no bruises, just a fractured leg, my injury shows how slow I was going. To give additional context the same leg that got fractured was also sprained days before the incident.
Everything happened very quickly. My right leg just gave up on me and I crashed.
Did I wear safety gear? Yes, all the time. No gear, no helmet, no ride.
Possible cause? I may have an existing hairline fracture or a minor injury that I didn't bother to check or notice. I may have weak bones? I'm not a milk drinker because my stomach gets upset when I drink. To be honest I'm not sure. So to everyone especially PEV riders, always check your legs, your bones, your body, your health.
Takeaway:
RIDE YOUR EUC IN YOUR BEST CONDITION AND NOT FORCE IT IF YOU'RE NOT FEELING 100%
What's next for me? Recover. Get my bones and body heal.. kung sa bisaya pa, "puyo". I will try to spend my time editing my previous ride videos.
I would like to thank my wife for being understandable and caring. She's my strength. I love you, Love.
To my family and friends who got in touch with me and visited me. Thank you.
To Vince (Beep Beep Rider) who was there and didn't leave me until I was transferred to the preferred hospital. He contacted my wife and explained to her what happen. Thank you brad!
To Doc Brian (DOC on Wheels) who assisted us from the place of the incident to the hospital. He is one of my doctors in my surgery and making me sure I'll be fine. Thank you so much, Doc! And to Dr. Barlaan, resident doctors and nurses. Salamat!
To all, I couldn't mention you all but thank you for your prayers and get well wishes.
Stay safe everyone. Ride safely.
