Senator Afnan Ullah (PML-N) has said on Wednesday that the Google team would be visiting Islamabad next month to commence operations in Pakistan.

“A delegation of Google will visit Pakistan on December 11 to start operations,” he said, adding that the platform will provide 15,000 scholarships to Pakistani citizens after starting operations in Pakistan.

Earlier in September, Google launched Career Certificates to offer flexible learning paths for all Pakistanis to enable learners to develop their knowledge and acquire digital skills for in-demand jobs.

In its mission to Unlock Pakistan’s Digital Potential, Google has also reinforced its commitment to enable an equitable and inclusive digital economy by offering 15,000 scholarships by this year through local partners – IRM and Ignite, comprising education institutions, industry partners and nonprofits.

A bold and brilliant Saudi Arabia pulled off one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history as they came from behind to stun two-time winners Argentina in a fantastic Group C opener in Lusail.

Ranked 51st in the world, Saudi Arabia could have been done and dusted in the first half as Lionel Messi opened the scoring from the penalty spot before Argentina had three goals ruled out for offside.

An Iranian man who lived for 18 years in Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport and whose saga loosely inspired the Steven Spielberg film The Terminal has died in the airport that he long called home.

Mehran Karimi Nasseri, died ate age 76 on Saturday after a heart attack in the airport’s Terminal 2F around midday, according to an official with the Paris airport authority. Police and a medical team treated him but were not able to save him.

Nasseri lived in the airport’s Terminal 1 from 1988 until 2006, first in legal limbo because he lacked residency papers and later, apparently by choice.

He slept on a red plastic bench surrounded by boxes of newspapers and magazines and showered in staff facilities. He spent his time writing in his diary, reading magazines, studying economics, and surveying passing travellers.

Staff nicknamed him Lord Alfred, and he became a mini-celebrity among passengers.

“Eventually, I will leave the airport,” he told The Associated Press in 1999, smoking a pipe on his bench, looking frail with long thin hair, sunken eyes and hollow cheeks. “But I am still waiting for a passport or transit visa."

In The Terminal, Hanks plays Viktor Navorski, a man who arrives at JFK airport in New York from the fictional eastern European country of Krakozhia and discovers an overnight political revolution has invalidated all his travelling papers. Navorski is dumped into the airport’s international lounge and told he must stay there until his status is sorted out, which drags on as unrest in Krakozhia continues.

According to the New York Times, Spielberg purchased the rights to Nasseri’s life story through his production company DreamWorks, paying roughly $250,000.

Nasseri also wrote an autobiography titled The Terminal Man published in 2004...

US returns 192 stolen artefacts worth $3.4m to Pakistan.

The United States has returned 192 stolen antiquities — valued at nearly $3.4 million — to Pakistan after an investigation into an Indian-American art dealer, the Manhattan District Attorney’s (MDA) office in New York announced.

The announcement said that 187 of the artefacts were recovered from the art dealer, Subhash Kapoor, identifying him as one of the world’s most prolific antiquities traffickers.

The antiquities were returned during a repatriation ceremony at the Pakistan Consulate that was attended by Ayesha Ali, Consul General of Pakistan in New York, and US Homeland Security Investigations Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge Thomas Acocella.

The art pieces and artefacts included a Gandharan statue depicting a Maitreya — an enlightened form of the Buddha — which was looted from Pakistan and smuggled into New York during the 1990s.

Kapoor had owned an art gallery in New York called ‘Art of the Past’ and a side business that specialised in selling antiquities from Southeast Asia when he was accused of smuggling and selling stolen artefacts, the MDA said.

It stated that the antiquities were looted from a Neolithic archaeological site in Pakistan before being trafficked to New York.

They were placed in a storage unit rented by agents of the art gallery until their seizure by US authorities this year, it added.

The archaeological site of Mehrgarh in Pakistan was discovered by archaeologists in 1974 and subsequently faced looting.

“Subhash Kapoor was one of the world’s most prolific antiquities traffickers, yet thanks to the work of our dedicated investigators and analysts, we have been able to recover thousands of pieces looted by his network,” Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said...

The collapse of FTX, already one of the most spectacular disasters in financial history, worsened as hundreds of millions of dollars were drained from the cryptocurrency exchange hours after it filed for bankruptcy.

More than $600 million was siphoned from FTX's crypto wallets late Friday. Soon after, FTX stated in its official Telegram channel that it had been compromised, instructing users not to install any new upgrades and to delete all FTX apps.

"FTX has been hacked. FTX apps are malware. Delete them. Chat is open. Don't go on FTX site as it might download Trojans," wrote an account administrator in the FTX Support Telegram chat. The message was pinned by FTX General Counsel Ryne Miller.

Hours later, Miller disclosed in a tweet that FTX US and FTX.com had been moving all their digital assets to cold storage because of the Friday bankruptcy. "Process was expedited this evening – to mitigate damage upon observing unauthorized transactions," he said.

Many FTX wallet holders reported $0 balances in their FTX.com and FTX US wallets. FTX’s API appeared to be down, which could account for this. According to on-chain data, various Ethereum tokens as well as Solana and Binance Smart Chain tokens exited FTX's official wallets and moved to decentralized exchanges like 1inch. Both FTX and FTX US appear to be affected.

The transfers occurred on the same day that the firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. after apparently losing – or misappropriating – billions of dollars in user funds. Suspicions – which are conjecture at this point – circulated online about whether, rather than an outside attack, someone inside the company might've been responsible...

Pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly (LLY) dipped 4.37 per cent Friday to US $352.30—erasing over US $15 billion in market cap after a Twitter Blue verified account impersonating the brand promised free insulin.

The tweet, sent around 1:30 p.m. Thursday, read: “We are excited to announce insulin is free now.” The post remained online for hours, attracting over 3,000 likes and hundreds of retweets.

As of Friday, the impostor account is no longer verified, its tweets have been set to private.

The official Eli Lilly account responded Thursday afternoon with an apology, confirming that “Our official Twitter account is .”..

Twitter on High risk of Security and Privacy say experts.

Three of Twitter's top security, safety and privacy executives have resigned, moves that add to what had already been a chaotic two-week run since Elon Musk took control of the company.

Twitter’s chief information security officer and chief compliance officer resigned late Wednesday as the company started implementing changes that would allow users to more easily impersonate major brands and government officials.

The departures came just hours before Musk sent his first email to Twitter employees, titled “difficult times ahead” and implementing a mandatory return-to-work policy.

Later Thursday, Twitter's head of trust and safety, Yoel Roth, also resigned, according to a person familiar with the situation who requested to remain nameless as they were not authorized to speak about internal company matters.

Roth had emerged since Musk's acquisition as a leading voice at the company about its ongoing moderation efforts and work to limit an uptick in hate speech. Musk publicly vouched for Roth multiple times in recent weeks.

Lea Kissner, the chief information security officer, confirmed they had left in a Twitter post Thursday morning. Chief Compliance Officer Marianne Fogarty has also left the company, according to a person familiar with the situation who asked to remain nameless because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

“I don’t watch Game of Thrones. I certainly don’t want to play it at work,” Fogarty tweeted Monday.

A spokesperson for the Federal Trade Commission said in an emailed statement that it is keeping watch on the situation.

“We are tracking recent developments at Twitter with deep concern,” the spokesperson wrote. “No CEO or company is above the law, and companies must follow our consent decrees. Our revised consent order gives us new tools to ensure compliance, and we are prepared to use them.”..

The court while rejecting Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s request for indefinite adjournment refused to give more time to the applicant.

The lawyers took a position that the prime minister of Pakistan is busy, and more time should be given for the submission of answers, on which Justice Mathew Nicklin remarked that in his court, the prime minister and the common man are equal.

During the annual Ron Baron Conference, which was held in New York on November 4, Musk revealed that after acquiring Twitter, he now works for 120 hours a week.

In a horrific incident reported from Gaya district of Bihar, India. A 45-year-old Mother of 2 childrens was burnt alive after being branded as witch. The incident was reported from village Panchwa under Dumaria block of Gaya district on Saturday afternoon.

The woman was set on fire at her house by the accused. The deceased has been identified as Rita Devi.

How the events unfolded
According to reports, a son of a villager named Chandradev Manjhi died recently due to illness. Manjhi then accused Rita of being a witch. On Saturday, Manjhi and some of his associates attacked the house of Rita Devi and set her house on fire causing her death.
Around 200 people of village alin with associates attacked her house.

The deceased woman's son Amit Kumar and her husband Arjun Das rushed to Maigra police station seeking help. But when the police arrived, they were also pelted with stone and police vehicles vandalised.

Following the incident, additional forces have been deployed in the village. The police have taken the custody of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Police say they have launched the manhunt to nab the culprits.

A kin of the victim said the accused had organised a panchayat to brand the woman witch and allegedly asking her to be killed, the panchayat was dismissed indecisive due to fight between two parties...

Twitter on Saturday updated its app in Apple’s App Store to begin charging $8 for sought-after blue check verification marks, in Elon Musk’s first major revision of the social media platform.

The change comes a week after Musk took over the social media company in a $44 billion deal.

The billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of electric car maker Tesla (TSLA.O) cut half the staff at Twitter and has vowed to start charging users more.

In an update to Apple iOS devices, Twitter said those who “sign up now” for $7.99 a month can receive the blue checkmark next to their user names, “just like the celebrities, companies and politicians you already follow.”

Before Musk took over, blue check marks next to a person’s user name meant Twitter confirmed the account belonged to the person or company claiming it.

It was not immediately clear how or if Twitter planned to verify the identity of the user beyond charging a fee.

According to the iOS notification, other benefits in the update include “half the ads”, the ability to post longer videos to Twitter and priority ranking for quality content.
