It’s hard to grasp that 1988 was 33 years ago, so while you’re letting that settle in and allowing the memories of the better days to flood in, let’s add on and discuss a dream purchase for some – the Chevy Old Body Style (OBS) truck. Did that grab your attention? Good, because these trucks seem to be fueling a nostalgia movement as they spike in popularity.

It’s hard to deny the explosion of the OBS models onto the used truck market, and we’re ready to jump in as well. Several years ago, it was possible to pick up an OBS on the cheap. However, with the surge in interest from sport truck enthusiasts, prices for the project trucks have nearly doubled. However, they’re still affordable; for now.

Sedans and smaller cars used to dominate the market as the most popular, but that trend has shifted in pickup trucks’ favor this year.

For the first time in recent memory, pickup sales outpaced car sales. While the recent surge has to a lot to do with the coronavirus pandemic halting car production, the other reason is that car sales have been slowly declining while pickup and SUV sales are increasing across the board.

Saturday I borrowed our son in law Mike’s new Ram pick-up to take 60 bags of seed out to the farm. This is not how real farmers handle seed. When you have a lot of acres to plant you get seed in big totes and use seed tenders or bulk seed. When you are a small part time farmer you still get seed the old fashioned way, in bags that weigh around 50 pounds. At least I had a nice truck instead of the Monte-Carlo pick-up!

On Saturday afternoon there was still snow in some areas of my fields. There was also a lot of snow along windbreaks and in road ditches. My father-in law always said when the last of the snow is gone you still have to wait 3 days for the fields to be dry enough to begin fieldwork. Notice in the picture if you look down the driveway you can see snow in the ditch. Maybe in a couple days you will see a lot of tractors in the fields

The grand debut of the highly anticipated electric pickup truck will reportedly be pushed backed or altered due to the current situation with the coronavirus.

InsideEVs reached out the General Motors for comment on this, but the automaker declined to offer additional context.

Originally, GMC was set to debut the Hummer electric pickup truck on May 20 at a big, live reveal event at Detroit-Hamtramck Assemble, the future site of production for the Hummer EV. Word now is that the event will not go on as originally planned.
