said it best so we’ll leave it to him!

The stigma surrounding Black men and seeking help for mental health is one of the factors keeping Black men from getting the help that they need(Don't worry, accessibility is a huge issue as well). We have to break the stigma that Black men are "weak", "soft", and should "be a real man" for wanting to do better mentally. Mental strength is just as important and strong as physical strength. Here are some ways to break the stigma.

-Be reassuring
-Remember that your feelings are valid
-Educate and bring awareness
-Find others with similar interests and values
-Seek mental health help regardless

You aren't weak. You want to be better.

While climate change affects everyone, not everyone is affected to the same degree. Structural racism has pushed lower-income communities and many people of color to areas that have fewer resources and more climate vulnerability, such as flood zones and urban heat islands. Race is the number one indicator for the placement of toxic facilities in this country. Because climate change worsens air quality, these communities are more vulnerable to the health effects of climate change. And certain climate-sensitive populations, like children, are more susceptible to heat-related illness, dehydration or diarrheal illness. The growth of climate change is an environmental injustice.

Community encompasses every aspect of our lives – it’s where we live, work, learn, play and pray. These make up the social determinants of health, and too many people in the U.S. face community barriers to health and well-being.

Today’s theme: Advancing Racial Equity

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted long-standing inequities in health care, income, housing, education and many other factors that influence health and well-being. These inequities are largely driven by racism and bias that are embedded in our systems, institutions, policies and practices. We must transform our systems and dismantle policies and practices that uphold racism and continue inequities. We must make racial equity central to health equity.

We join our Boston community in mourning the loss but celebrating the life of Phenomenal leader, Irvienne Goldson! Irvienne was the embodiment of community care. She mentored, advocated and empowered hundreds of young people, using her light to help young community activists find their voices. As Deputy Director of Health Services with local organization ABCD, Irvienne worked tirelessly to ensure there was equitable access to knowledge and health, especially sexual health, resources and services. Irvienne’s incredible life and legacy embodies everything we aspire for Project BLACCK to be, and we are forever grateful for the love and light she shared with members of our team personally. Please join us in celebrating her life tonight during a virtual memorial service on what would have been her 61st birthday. Happy Heavenly Birthday, Irvienne! We pray that the ancestors are celebrating your light in glory.
