Lillian (Creative & Marketing Director) is a Brooklyn-based actor, writer, and project manager with a penchant for knitting (.knits ) and walking in cemeteries. Admittedly not much of a gamer before Landon came into their life, Lillian is a huge fan of Essence. Pierce (Art Director) is a designer, artist, and writer based in Lincoln, NE. Currently a master’s student in architecture, Pierce immerses himself in design and loves to study its consequences in anything from the built environment to tabletop RPGs. His favorite games include but are definitely not limited to Skyrim, Dungeons and Dragons, Settlers of Catan, and Destiny 1 (before they nerfed the Hunter’s tripmine gr***de – iykyk).

Meet Will, Essence editor and flavor text writer! Born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska, Will has a background in nonfiction writing and editing for a wide range of organizations, including his college newspaper, public radio, and, more recently, a technology company. When he’s not working to craft new blogs on the wide world of cloud monitoring and analytics, Will enjoys exploring New York City, making music, and staring at big screen after long day of medium screen.

Krishna (Game Advisor & Community Coordinator) is a marketing strategist born and raised in New York City; he got into miniature wargaming in college and fell head first into enjoying ttrpgs and board games from there. Essence endeavors to achieve video game-like RPG progression by employing an expansive loot system, improvable skills, and RNG. It is a game of spontaneity and drastic actions, rewarding strategists and synergizers, but leaving enough to chance for beginners to compete.

Meet the Essence team! 🖤

Landon (Essence Creator & Game Designer) is a Brooklyn, NY-based designer and content creator.

Originally from Lincoln, Nebraska, Landon has a background in architecture and design. Though he dabbles in writing, music, and visual art, Landon's true calling is to be shamelessly obsessed with games. Role-playing games, strategy games, flash games, game shows - for better or worse, he'll play just about anything with just about anyone who challenges him.

Landon's favorite games include Magic: the Gathering, Settlers of Catan, and Civilization VI. He has also surrendered a shocking number of hours to Runescape, Skyrim, and Elden Ring.

Landon is fascinated by the sense of immersion a game can achieve through its player progression and mechanical systems and how these devices can be used to inform the game's narrative and imagery. He believes that the best games are derived from flavorful absurdity and contain scheming, suspense, and a cheeky dash of RNG.
