Hey peoples!

I'm still working on podcast episodes. I know I haven't published one in a while.

I have not felt that any of the podcast episodes are up to my standards, so I have not published them yet.

Over the next three weeks, I will focus on moving, going to a grandparents funeral out of state, and trying not to fall behind in school.

I am making this decision so that I do not cut corners to put out an episode just to meet a deadline and instead put out episodes that everyone can appreciate. I am hoping a break will allow me to come back and look at the problems I am having with current podcasts under a new light.

So, a while back, we posted links to a survey for students in the FNSB High Schools to gather data on the racism students experience. This project was created by Black students in the district and their parents and a teacher helped raise awareness about it.

The teacher, Christine Dyer, watched as students continued to struggle while teachers and staff fought to make real changes. She used her privilege at a School Board Meeting to once again raise awareness as she gave her resignation publicly.

However, my older kiddos have realized they are leaving town to go back to the village before school starts soon and want more quality time with me before they fly out.

ACTION ALERT!!!

Tomorrow, there is an opportunity to testify to State House Judiciary Committee on SB 7. If this passes, it won't have to go through another committee!

SB 7 would require the Department of Public Safety to publish certain policies and procedures on their website. This is about transparency. This could also lead to better discussions around the safety of people in the public when it comes to interactions with State employees.

Fairbanks City Council is talking about doing a Land Acknowledgement. Anyone can testify via zoom.The resolution that does this is Resolution No. 4981 and was introduced by Shoshana Kun after she spoke with some elders and leaders to get the wording correct.
