The unimpeded intentionality of living systems, including especially human beings, is self-realization and self-actualization, the fulfillment of genetic potential or possibilities. This intentionality must be empowered to be realized. Thus, to paraphrase Friedrich Nietzsche, "Wherever we find the will to live, there we find the will to power." Power is essential to our existence and the most influential factor in determining our quality of life. As Wartenberg contends, "Power is one of the central phenomena of human social life." And as Parenti argues, "All sorts of interpersonal [and we may add, intergroup] relationships can be seen as involving power, including between lovers or between parent and child." Power! There is no escaping its presence in some form. There is no escaping its use by others to influence in some form our person, our minds and behavior and our own use of it to influence the persons, minds and behavior of others. We deny the ubiquity of power to our peril. It does not vanish from reality or lose its influence by our refusal to acknowledge its existence. Therefore, we are behooved to recognize its permanent reality and make the best of it, control it and use it to good purpose. Power in and of itself "can be both a detrimental and a beneficial aspect of social relationships" and can be made to play "the negative as well as the positive role... in the constitution of human social life" (Wartenberg).
Power can be utilized to achieve personal, social, political and material ends if it is appropriately developed, organized and applied. The question of whether power is beneficial or harmful can only be answered in regard to the specific use to which it is put in a particular situation.

WE HAVE SOME OF OUR PEOPLE who think that slavery was back then and has nothing to do with them. We have never escaped slavery. We still share the slave consciousness of our great-great grandparents. You say slavery has
nothing to do with you and slavery was back there. I ask you, then: What language do you speak? When did you learn that language? Was that the language Afrikan people were speaking when taken into slavery in the Caribbean and
the Americas? The language we speak at this moment is the slave language - the language that our slave ancestors were forced to learn. We still speak it and you can still hear the pidgin, the creole and the other carryovers in our
language right at this moment, the experience they had to go through. That language, with its words defined by history and by an experience, is the language we use to guide our behavior. It's the language we use today to talk
to ourselves. It's the language we use today to learn about ourselves and to learn about the world. It's the language we use today to understand ourselves. Is there any wonder that we are still confused?

Wholistic thinking is the key to understanding Caucasian cultural scientific bias and White racism as applied to diet and medicine. Wholism means that everything (i.e., air, water, fire, earth, electricity, colors, metal) has a form (physical body), intelligence, emotion, and spirit energy. This wholistic concept was a part of African cultures that existed before the Sahara Lake became the Sahara Desert. In any case, European scientific cultural bias has condemned, usurped and distorted African medical and dietary writings. In fact, all Chinese, Japanese, and Hindu cultures and their forms of yoga, meditation, exercise, diagnosis, and treatments are biased in that they accentuate their own theories, norm values, cultural frame of reference and disregard omit and deny that the source of their science and art is Africa. African civilization (frame of reference = cosmology) was built on a Ma'at approach to natural foods, wellness, diet, emotions, intelligence, relationship, and herbal medicine. Blacks who accept Caucasian science as the only true science are whitewashed. Black folks who do not use their own culture's healing art and science are addicted to Caucasian culture. They are ignoring that African culture produced calculus, psychology, bureaucracy, biology, medicine, astronomy, algebra, architecture, acupuncture, massage, alchemy and anatomy while at the same time emotionally rejecting the African science, wholistic diet and medical art and science. They are practicing self-hatred on subconscious levels and ignoring the obvious facts on a conscious level.
