Meet UGWU CHUKWUNONSO popularly known as DJ WALCOTT
Born in Nkpor, Anambra State, Nigeria. He hails from Ekwegbe in Igbo-etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State.
Dj Walcott is one of the Old Cat Entertainers in Oko Poly and one of the most respected and sort out Disk Jockeys in Oko Poly.
At a very young age, Ugwu Chukwunonso helped his mum to sell pure water, cakes, eggs and fruits along major roads and streets of Nkpor.
He acquired his 0'level at (DMGS) Dennis Memorial Grammer School, Onitsha, Anambra State and later, furthered his education at Federal Polytechnic Oko where he graduated with HND in Accountancy and where he currently resides
Dj Walcott, as he's professionally known, started his DJ career when he was still in secondary school.
During an interactive session with Hype Priest, Dj Walcott revealed: "My first display as a Dj was with Nokia 5130 and Nokia 2700. I later started saving up and bought a laptop hence, I worked with only laptop for a while before I could afford a CDJ player, however I I'm currently using Controller"
Dj Walcott had worked with DUFIL (Indomie Instant Noodles) as a promoter and later advanced to cordinator and at the same time, was a dancer in the same Indomie company in the time of makossa and Arafat music. he later became the official DJ of DUFIL (Indomie Instant Noodles) Anambra/Delta State.
Walcott had the opportunity to grow his career when he came to Federal Polytechnic Oko to further his education which was the reason he had to resign from the Indomie company. He later gained more grounds and worked as the official Dj at Triple Tree Hotel Amaokpala, Golden View Hotel Amaokpala, Supreme Icon Hotel Nanka and Cape Lounge, Amaokpala, all in Anambra State.
His progress to his career was due to his unrelenting consistency in trying new things in the industry and he always advices upcoming DJ's to also keep being consistent and try hard to adapt to new developments in the industry.
He also advices all the DJ's to register as a DJAN member (Deejays Association of Nigeria) so that their work will not be interrupted by the officials.
Dj Walcott pulled an unusual stunt being the first DJ to drop two different mixtapes at the same time, featuring multiple hype men (check the last two slides on the picture segments 👇)
