We came, we saw, we kicked it’s ass!
won at the last night at . Once again I got to thank my incredible cast and crew for making CLASSIFIED happen. Some really fantastic films being made my the current crop of students there. And I gotta say this was one of the best crowds I’ve seen my movie with, every moment hit for them.
Before the festival my daughter and I had some time to kill before Maria got there and we decided to take a look at the new home of the . I haven’t seen her that excited to go any place in such a long time.

Soooo remember how I said festival run was officially over? My old school is having a short film festival and there was an alumni section and seeing how it was partially filmed on the ODU campus it seemed like it would be fun for one more rodeo. If nothing else it would be cool to be able to see this with a crowd familiar with some of the locations we filmed in and see what their reactions will be.

Since these two are both crossover subjects I figured I’d upload them together.

I wanted to do a follow up to my and drawing and thought which two other properties would be fun to see mixed together. Really happy with how the shading came out on the characters.

Don’t know why but I’ve been on a dinosaur kick lately. Some of these are based on a show I grew up watching and imagining what a modern reboot would look like. Really proud of how the modern scientifically accurate turned out. The second picture is a film history fans will recognize this old technique of gluing stuff on lizards to try and make them look like dinosaurs for productions that were too cheap to use
Hope this is a great start of the year for everyone and I REALLY hope there be some more film related news/posts for this page this year. Fingers crossed!

And the other piece I’ve been working THE BEST PETER PAN FILM, Hook from 1991. For fun I thought it would be cool to try and make it look like a shot from the Disney film. I think the backgrounds aren’t the greatest but for someone who is not a painter they’re better than I thought I’d be able to get. !

So I get to be topical again with the Beetlejuice Musical play around my neck of the woods and apparently Tim Burton has announced that they have officially finished filming Beetlejuice 2 after the SAG strike has ended. There's been one photo leak of Keaton in the Betelgeuse makeup and it looks great. My big fear was the modern more polished makeup material would make it look totally different but I think he looks great. Never seen the musical, personally don't have much of an interest, sorry. There is only one Beetlejucie and he will be returning to the role one more time and I am so happy! It's showtime!

Here’s another one of my favorites from .
The prompt was and I didn’t want to do the obvious choices. Although if I had thought of it I probably would have done just cause that one is so much to talk about and share.
Still I’m really happy with how this turned out. Especially the background. I changed where the moon was and put the ufo in its former place. I used the info from the remake since it actually is a ufo. The one in the original makes it looks like is about to show up. I’ll be back when I finish some others.

I'm now going to try and upload these cleaned up colorized versions of my favorite . So for my first one I decided to stay current as I've been following along with the new I love and the reboot has been fine. I'm trying to cut it some slack given that a tv series starting off as good as the original Frasier did is super rare. And of course this whole thing is a reference to playing Beast in the X-Men movies. And speaking of current news if you know, you know. I colored Beast gray since that's may favorite version more than the more iconic blue version. But I added that for those who enjoy it.

another successful year, hope you enjoyed my and my daughter’s drawings this year. Her ghost is quite cute and she is enjoyed trick or treating with her friends.
I decided to go with the ghost with the most. I’ve never seen the and I don’t have much of an interest. I might have been soured on it thanks to a YouTube review of the original film from someone who saw the play first and was criticizing the film for not being more like the play. I didn't want to just do a slice of pizza and of course I had to go with from the movie that taught me about the very concept of parody films.

It took a long time to figure out what unicorn to draw. I thought about the unicorn from , I thought about the unicorns from then I got really close to doing then I decided to go with the ending of and the infamous unicorn origami. Is Decker is replicant? For I'm of the opinion the question is more interesting than a definitive answer. I thought was an amazing sequel and particularly handled this debate well.
I believe Ivy's drawing are the characters. Despite being a dad and we often spend a lot of time together I've never actually seen a full episode.

The obvious untraditional choice for storm would be Storm from and I almost drew her and then I thought of one of my favorite stories And hey it's a horror miniseries so it's about time I did some more traditional horror themed drawings for this . If you haven't seen the miniseries the moral dilemma at the end is fantastic but what makes is really work as well as it does it the performance of by . He's chilling and many fans wonder if he could be in anyway connected to .

The obvious choice would have been either or for this but I decided to go with a slightly more obscure choice with the . My first attempt didn't turn out all that great. So I redid this and while it's nothing like the iconic poster I think this turned out pretty cool.
Ivy's is just the face of a giant monster.

I feel like I've done too many superhero drawing this time around so no I won't do from . So what do I do instead oh how about a character clearly based on the x-men character , formerly . I enjoy the show but no you don't have to be smart to understand the show.
Ivy didn't know what a phoenix was so after I explained what it was she immediately wanted to do the fire bird and then it's like pringles, once you pop you can't stop and she started tracing more and more pokemon.

I decided to do my favorite character Reptile. It's funny because unlike my favorite character in , I can really explain why he's my favorite character. I can recognize that objectively there are lot's of other MK characters with more interesting backstories or characterization but Reptile has always been my favorite. I think it's because he was secret character in the first game and that mystery made him seem so cool to me. I mostly drew the movie version but changed the mask since I don't like how the movie's version looks. I like the concept it just don't look right in practice to me.
Ivy decided to do a t-rex since dinosaurs are reptiles.

So as you can probably guess from a prompt that vague it's really hard to come up with something to draw. I even had a hard time explaining it make my daughter understand. I eventually settled on a shot from the movie for those who don't know it's a spin off film of . Remember that scene where Reagan tells the astronaut "you're going to die up there." This is a movie all about that character. And you know what I'll leave it at the and let you watch the movie if this image intrigues you. It's a really good movie and aside from it's better than any of the other direct sequels. No I haven't seen yet but I will although man does it sound bad so far.

So I got done with my drawing but decided to alter it slightly to be as Green Lantern. For those who don't know in the late 90s/early 2000s Warner Bros is frustrated that they can't get any other movies out of all the DC characters they own. Taking a page out of other 90s comic book movies (like The Mask and Men in Black) where they took the basic premise of the comic but rebuilt it into a comedy film. I like Jack Black but I don't think using a character as famous as Green Lantern was a smart idea even if I'm not a fan of the character. So I actually drew an entirely different drawing earlier today but decided I wanted to draw a different idea so some other time I'll upload my other Beast drawing. It's the Beast like this with as Beast. Like as he was PERFECT casting and a real shame he only got to play him once and a cameo. He of course is the star of one of my favorite sitcoms and I thought it would be fun to go all out with mixing these two properties together. I am of course watching the new Frasier series and am enjoying getting new material.

I decided to do what was one of my favorite moments of showing my daughter where pants Seymour. She laughed so hard during that part.
Ivy did the scene from where she guesses the correct plant in class. She also put me in there in the seat next to Wednesday. Apparently I'm unbearably cheery to an Addams.

Another one that took a long time to decide, my first thought was from but then I was thinking of drawing something like the author of freaking out over a obviously fake picture of fairies which he was apparently prone to do. I eventually decided on something funnier with this actual size picture.

I had a hard time figuring out what to draw for this prompt, I eventually settled on are. The picture book by was one of my favorite as a kid. And I thought the movie by was magnificent. I keep meaning to introduce it to my wife and daughter one of these days.
I do love Ivy's picture of wild animals in the jungle.

Day 15.)
is my number one favorite movie, bar none, nothing comes close to touching it. In fact you could even say it's ruined me on all other Peter Pan films because whenever I watch any of the others, the version, the musical version, I feel like OK now I need to watch the best version, the of Peter Pan movies now to feel complete. If I ever meet I would plead with him to release a special edition dvd/bluray of the movie. I know there's a disc with some deleted scenes but the film deserves more. It's truly fascinating to see the difference in how my generation views the movie versus how the older generation views it.
For Ivy's she wanted to make a girl pirate and my wife and I told her about as she drew assuring that yes there were indeed real lady pirates back then.

I really loved it was a really fun movie that despite it's obvious potential as a film series still felt complete in it's one movie. So if they do sequels to it (which the box office seems unlikely sadly) great, if not I feel satisfied from the story we got. And as a friend of mine pointed out they could even do a completely new story and characters for a future movie and just cast the same actors and have it be a different campaign. Anyways I decided to pay tribute to the best part of that movie. My wife howled when this chonky boy showed up on the screen.
Ivy's dragon his is supposed to be a cute dragon, it certainly is.

I couldn't think of what to do for this. I eventually decided to do since I've drawn many times before especially and but never Blacula so I thought this would be fun to try. I will say I don't care for the film itself, it's kinda boring but the main actor is fantastic in the lead role. So in many ways it's very similar to the 1931 versions.
Ivy's looks like a modern art piece.

Hey a post that's actually posted on the right day without having to catch up. I told Ivy she didn't have to draw a straight up clown, she could do a class clown and that stuck in my head and I did that idea just with the 2 versions of .
Ivy hates clowns so that's why a message is on there about how terrible they are.
