The Piccadilly Sinfonietta are in the middle of touring live with Vivaldi's iconic 'Four Seasons' from their latest CD.

Here are some interesting facts about this legendary composer:

1. He became an ordained priest in 1703.
2. He worked for many years at a girls’ school. So a lot of his music was actually written for school girls to play! (Imagine having a music teacher like that!!)
3. Bach was a great fan of Vivaldi’s.
4. He wrote 46 Operas!
5. He was a very good violinist, in fact over 500 concertos he wrote, almost half of them are for violin.
6. His Vivaldi Four Seasons are housed in Manchester!

Did you know, Bach's Piano Concerti were not all originally composed for keyboard? Some of the nicest aspects of Baroque music is how composers were ready to transform compositions into different formats!

Victoria Sayles, violinist is the soloist in our new Vivaldi Four Seasons CD with The Piccadilly Sinfonietta out in March.

Victoria performs with the London Mozart Players and as a soloist internationally. She comes from Dorchester and has recently been appointed leader of the Royal Swedish Opera Orchestra.
