Hello hello! On the students of mind podcast we have featured several episodes talking specifically about Black mental health experiences. Historically and to this day, there is so much stigma around mental health in the Black community due to mistreatment, underrepresentation, and mistrust of the system. In 2019 the FDA approved Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray, in conjunction with an oral antidepressant, for the treatment of treatment resistant depression (FDA.gov). In this week's new episode, we are continuing with our Let’s Talk Psychedelic Assisted Therapy series! In this second installment, your host Jayde shares her personal experience with both esketamine (spravato) and ketamine assisted therapy. She talks about how she discovered this modality, what the sessions are like for her, how she integrates her sessions, and more!

On the third Thursday of November each year, Children’s Grief Awareness day is celebrate to recognize and bring awareness to the needs of grieving children. This day is to emphasize that support can make a world of a difference for a grieving child. The placement of this day also acknowledges that the holidays can be particularly difficult for those who have lost a loved one, and that it’s okay and very normal to be struggling during this time of year. Hello everyone! I’m here to announce this weeks episode of Students of Mind! Our topic of the week is grief, and joining to give some insight is Katie Dalmas. Katie describes herself as a grieving loved one, as she lost her mother at 21 years old. During the time caring for her mother and after she passed, Katie noticed the major gaps that exist in support for people who are dealing with the loss of a loved one. Since then, Katie founded Beyond the Clouds with a mission to find ways to holistically support families with loved one’s who are diagnosed with terminal or chronic illness. Currently, she is releasing the first season of the Beyond the Clouds podcast series, where she sits down with the chronic and terminally ill to discuss the raw emotions around knowing that you’re going to die. Happy Sunday everyone! I’m excited to introduce you all to this weeks guest, Jasmine Orsted. This week, Jasmine joins me on the show to share about her experience being the victim of racist bullying while preparing to try out for a college basketball team. The bullying ultimately led to a lawsuit, and in the episode Jasmine details what it was like to experience each part of her journey—from the bullying and the lack of support from school administration, to dealing with the legal process—up to the present day.
