Today is World Diabetes Day. Managing my type 1 diabetes was a struggle for many years but with emotional support from family, friends, online communities and practitioners my health is looking good. I want to spread awareness of the stress a lifelong health condition can put in a person, and the negative effects mental Heath can have on managing. It’s never as simple as ‘being in control’. If you think someone is struggling don’t be silent, offer support and educate yourself! Access to a wealth of online resources leaves no excuse..

CALLING MAKERS OF BATH!!!
I will be running the Christmas arts and crafts stall for the fundraiser with my friends from the Bath Out and About Club on November 23rd. We are seeking donations for our eclectic stall- cards, prints, ceramics, zines, decorations - and asking artists to donate 50% of their profits.

Very excited to be working with on our next zine. Things You Can See on a Bike tells the story of two type 1 diabetics who went bike packing. The zine gives information on the challenges they faced due to their diabetes, along side the anecdotes that encourage adventures.

We are very excited to have presenting a talk at our next self- publishing meet up. This will be followed by a group discussion for which participants are encouraged to bring an ongoing project to discuss with the group.

Our quarterly meet up’s are free to attend, and aim to encourage and support those with an interest in self- publishing art books and zines.

Raina is the first women with diabetes that I have met during my portraiture project. An artist, mother, entertainer and all round inspirational human being ❤️ So blessed to have met her so close to home.. I am still looking to meet other women (like ourselves) with diabetes.
