This page is the start of the streaming channel I am setting up as a surprise for my son.
He really enjoys watching gaming streams, especially family ones.
He starting in asking for a Nintendo Switch, and to be able to make videos about a year ago.
We got the Switch together for our birthdays in the fall (games/controllers/the 9) after some unfortunate turn with his 2ds giving up (one too many drops). We used to use our 3ds/2ds's to play also some together with my daughter/his sister games like
MarioKart
Super Smash Bro's
Monster Hunter
We also had a handful of 1 player games we enjoyed going through together.
I remember when I was around his age and I received my first video game for Christmas (original Nintendo Gameboy with Link's Awakening). I spent hours and hours absorbed in that world. A year or two later my family got a used bundle of Sega Genesis with controllers and a dozen or so games. That system became a source of a lot of good memories of time together for with various family members (Dad, sister, cousins, Grandma even got down!)
All that to say this. Whether its camping trips, meal times, help with homework or practicing sports, or whatever!
Time spent doing positive things as a family is essential for children's development as well as the mental/emotional well being of the parents long term.

Here we are.
Setting up this big surprise for my boy.
I've gone on eBay and started collecting the old school games I grew up with he was watching videos of, slowly learning the software and hardware required to record/stream their gameplay and also learning to perform repairs on some of these aged electronics in some spare time between building my businesses full time.
I'll keep posting here as we get closer to being ready to start streaming. Perhaps we'll have a few videos to share leading up...
