The US keeps meddling in other countries. They backed the overthrow of a democratically elected government in 2014 which led to the subsequent persecution and genocide of ethnic Russians by the Kiev regime since then. The Minsk Protocol put in place in 2014 to protect those minorities was ignored by Zelensky and his infamous Ukrainian right-wing extremist Azov Battalion who kept shelling and killing those people for the last 8 years, despite Russia warnings to them. A stain on the Obama legacy... But regardless of who is right or wrong refusing peace talks and escalation isn’t the answer because a nuclear war is not good for the Ukraine people who have been used as pawns in this geopolitical war and it is not good for the world...
