One of my close friends makes it her mission to drop affirming words into my inbox if not every other day, atleast once per week.

It’s one of the reasons why I love her. She shows up at the random moments, giving me exactly what I need for the day/week & goes back to her day.

I don’t think she realizes the impact of her genuine intentions + actions. Sometimes, I call her an angel that my dad sent because my dad used to do the same thing.

I guess he felt the tradition needed I go on whether he was physically present or not.

Do you have friends who affirm and support you? Are they your friends if they don’t?

It’s been a rough few days or even weeks for the black/brown community and let’s not forget the trans community.

It’s easy to say self-care when you have access to it. Sometimes it’s not so easy to self-care. So take what you need today. If it’s a hug, nap, or a strong drink, take it.

Have you listened to our episode on therapy yet?

Look here! I just went back to grab a listen because social media planning and ZAMN!! There are so many nuggets to grab on to.

I'm still stuck on the fact that as much as we'd like to be well put together, trauma + grief go hand in hand in so many different areas in our lives.

I'm happy to have the reminder that:
1. My grieving won’t look like everyone else’s. Feel the feels then move the f**k on.
2. My healing is never linear. Some days will be great and some won’t. In knowing this, I'm able to give myself grace.

What are some things you're learning in therapy right now? Keep it honest. We don't like lukewarm.

TW: Sexual Assault

While you and your folks are praying, these predators are PREYING and exerting power over others. It's an epidemic we need to acknowledge and stop protecting these folks and "family names" over the well-beings of our future generation.

How can you help:

• Listen + Believe victims + make space

• Become an informed ally

• Center the victim in your advocacy.

• Support organizations that work on behalf of victims in your area.

To be honest ya'll, this episode took a minute to upload because I was stuck in my head for a little bit.

OPENLY discussing sexual assault + violence while being a person who was a victim of sexual assault can have triggering moments. So, in this episode, I kept it a buck. I didn't edit anything out. The only way to record this one was to speak all the way through, even if I messed up on words.

So here you go! "It Aint Just The Johnsons: Part 2".
