Guam plans to immunize 5,850 people on island during the first phase of COVID-19 vaccinations, according to the Department of Public Health and Social Services, which said the first shipment of the Pfizer vaccine could arrive on island by mid-December.

The first three orders of 3,900 vaccines will be used to give 5,850 people two shots of the Pfizer vaccine.

Guam Memorial Hospital Administrator Lillian Posadas said it's not clear which of two COVID-19 vaccines will be brought to Guam.

GMH had previously expected the vaccine made by Pfizer to maybe arrive on Nov. 23, however, the latest news Posadas received was that it could be switched over to the vaccine made by Moderna.

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero extended Guam's Pandemic Condition of Readiness 1 in an executive order she signed Thursday.

The governor did lift some of the restrictions that have been in effect for four weeks. She also shifted from her stay-at-home order to a "safer-at-home" advisory in her latest executive order.
