I’ve been struggling on what to say and post from this page for the last few months. Amid trying to manage a small business during the pandemic and then dealing with the continuous fight for our Black lives mattering in this country, it became a lot (read: too much) to take in.
—
I spent a lot of time trying to process the present and figuring out what our future would look like. As the Black women behind this business, I know a few things for certain:
—
I will continue to hire Black and Brown creatives for my productions.
I will continue to write stories and scripts that speak to the Black experience.
I will continue to mentor Black and Brown women interested in entering the production and media space.
I will continue to carve out a space for Black people in the marketing and creative world.
I will continue to lift up another Black or Brown person as I rise.
And I will continue to amplify Black joy.
—
These are things I’ve been doing and will continue to do. As a Black women, we often feel the burden of the world on our shoulders. I question if I’m doing enough, saying enough, feeling enough. I don’t know, but what I do know is that I will continue this fight as best I know how - lifting up my people and providing opportunities for us to be our authentic selves through the expression of art and the radical act of existing ✊🏾
