These are my affirmations for this month. ⠀

Recently, I have been thinking about the life I want to live & also about my emotional sustainability. In order for me to create a fulfilled life, I constantly think of nourishment, pace & commitment. ⠀

•⠀
I have been trying to settle into a new place of peace for the past few days. A lot of changes has been happening - good changes, uncomfortable changes plus exciting changes. Having gentleness with myself & even with others keeps coming to me. I really find it hard to take it easy on myself - I don’t know if it’s because we are programmed to be stronger than we are soft. ⠀
All week - I have let tenderness win; whilst intentionally enjoying moments of gentleness with myself. Acknowledging that I don’t have to constantly be on edge & resilient.⠀

As I shift and go through life - my goal isn’t always to get it right because I have never gotten it right initially and perhaps I won’t but I plan to live a life that’s intentional and gentle. ⠀

Statistics Canada made it known that immigration is definitely one of the key driver to Canada’s population growth over the next 50 years. 🇨🇦 ⠀
It is estimated that the bulk of this growth will be in Ontario. ⠀
⠀
It is projected that in Ontario alone by 2043, population will be between 16.5 million and 20.4 million.⠀
⠀
It is seen where the Canadian population has grown substantially in recent years; from 30.7 million people in 2000 to 37.1 million in 2018.⠀

Ontario would remain the most populous province according to the projections. ⠀

I have been asked this question a lot of times … so here goes! ⠀
⠀
I have been in Canada 🇨🇦 for 6 months & I have learnt a lot. It isn’t an easy transition process & I am still going through that motion. ⠀
⠀
Even though I love my home country, Jamaica 🇯🇲, I had the immerse desire of moving to a different country, where I would not only be exploring but to be able to live an independent life with grand opportunities. ⠀
⠀
It all started in June 2018 when I was working in America 🇺🇸 on the J-1 Work & Travel Program. I took mental notes of differences between a first-world & a third-world country. ⠀
⠀
I then started doing my research of all possible immigrant friendly countries. With Canada, I was very impressed. The more I read about Canada, the more I became knowledgeable about the country - it was the more I wanted to move here. I had visited the country more than once, so I only knew of Canada through the lens of a visitor. ⠀
⠀
I decided to move to Canada as a student for varying academic reasons and also to give myself some time in learning more about the country; which would help me to see if I would actually like living here. ⠀
⠀
I am currently a student; doing a 2-year post graduate program at Fanshawe College & I landed here in December 2020. ⠀
⠀
This page (my personal space) is going to be about my experiences that I have here in Canada; work, school, home, family & life. You will see how I am slowly adjusting to an entire new culture & WEATHER.⠀

I will pass on everything that I know and have learnt throughout my experience with hopes that it will be helpful to you. ⠀

At the moment - my light has been dimmed but not OFF and even then - you have been my strength & my rock! Even then you encourage me - support me! ⠀
