Tragedies are bad and cause a great deal of sadness and suffering when they occur. How many people are grieving right now because of a tragedy? How many people have grieved this month because someone they knew perished in some unfortunate event?
However, you will never hear those names. The news of their deaths won’t be spread over countless, repeating media outlets. They won’t be showered with praise.
But because a man spent countless hours running around a “court” bouncing a leather-covered ball, and throwing said ball through a metal ring with a braided net dangling below it, he will be forever remembered and honored as “great”— “iconic”— “legendary”—an “idol” for so many to follow...
But why...?
