When I was travelling recently, I saw this awesome flag disposal box at a local veteran organization.

I would love to see this across Canada.

I often get asked how to properly dispose of old flags. Simply put there is no definite method but they should be disposed of respectfully. Not just tossed in the garbage.

In the past we’ve placed them in a cardboard box , neatly folded. Built a nice fire, and placed them in whilst having a moment of silence, or if you should choose, playing the national anthem.

I really dislike seeing tattered, torn, or otherwise sad looking flags flying out there. If you’re proud enough to fly our flag, be proud enough to replace them regularly and dispose of them appropriately.

Our latest epsiode sees Christian sitting down with John Vintar, author , a career Canadian Army officer who has served in the Canadian Armed Forces for over 30 years and author of the recently published book, 'A Swamp the Size of Belgium,' which details Vintar's experiences in South Sudan.

They discuss the history of Sudan and South Sudan, the challenges of peacekeeping missions, the impact on returning soldiers, the perception of peacekeeping in Canada, and the importance of history for military leaders.

Takeways👇

☑️The book 'A Swamp the Size of Belgium' provides a unique perspective on the experiences of a peacekeeper in South Sudan.

☑️Peacekeeping missions are often invisible to the majority of Canadians, leading to a lack of understanding and appreciation for the work of peacekeepers.

☑️Returning from a peacekeeping mission can be challenging, and veterans may struggle to convey the full extent of their experiences.

☑️History plays a crucial role in shaping military leaders and providing valuable lessons for the present and future.

Our guests and listeners are members of our team, and team members look after for one another.

Our former guest, retired Vancouver Police Department Sergeant and founder and president of the Police & Peace Officers' Memorial Ribbon Society , Shawn Coady , is no exception and he and his family need our help.

Shawn is battling cancer. More specifically, he's fighting a Squamous Cell Carcinoma which started in the back of his throat and has metastasized to his neck. The good news is, it can be treated, at a cost.

After a long career in the busy streets of Vancouver, Shawn and his wife settled into retirement in the rural community of Armstrong, BC, some 5 hours from Vancouver, where Shawn receives his treatments.

With support from Shawn's family and at the request of the PPOMRS vice president, Ross Gulkison, a Go Fund Me page has been established to help Shawn and his family cover the following costs:

- Transportation costs
- Accommodations (There is a need for hotels or AirBNB)
- Dental Surgery (This had to be completed prior to radiation and was a huge cost)
- Daily or weekly maintenance for home care and home support. Shawn is weak from the radiation and will need to hire help).
- Alternative Treatments (There are costly alternative treatments to help Shawn located in the lower mainland, but he needs financial support)

We will be also be re-releasing Shawn's episode soon with information encouraging listeners to help, where they can.

Shawn has spent his entire career in service to others and now it's our chance to give back.

One can imagine the impacts on property and violent crimes if each and every neighborhood had “close to 30 men who were ready and willing to conduct a manhunt…at a moment’s notice”.

Following a rash of thefts in homes and businesses this winter, a group of Fort Langley fathers decided to do something about it.

Scott McGregor is a former Canadian military intelligence professional who has advised the Royal Canadian Mounted Police on trans-national organized crime and hybrid warfare threats, as well as the former Attorney General and BC Premier David Eby in the lead up to the Commission of Inquiry into Money Laundering in British Columbia.

Scott maintains an extensive network of intelligence contacts through his company, Closehold Intelligence, and is the co-author of the recently released book, The Mosaic Effect: How the Chinese Communist Party started a Hybrid War in America’s backyard.

Scott's military and law enforcement intelligence career, and his access to classified information and international contacts, makes for a very unique and well informed perspective on the murky and nefarious nature of warfare taking place in Canada, the CCP's end game, and why Canada is losing it's place as a trusted ally.
