Mount Everest Base camp with my expedition team 2011. we are doing puja (Before leaving Everest Base Camp and beginning their arduous journey to its summit, Climbers and Sherpa take part in the Puja ceremony. A literal “right of passage”, the Puja ceremony is performed to make contact with divine sagarmatha, mount everest, and pray for a safe expedition).

Mount Everest Base camp with my expedition team 2011. we are participated in our Puja ceremony alongside all of our Sherpa. There were 2 Lamas reciting prayers and the climbers all brought some of their climbing gear to the altar to be blessed. Essentially we asked for permission and safe passage for climbing Everest. The prayer flag pole was erected on the stone altar and the prayer flags strung across our camp. They will remain for the season until we finish our climb. This magnificent ceremony was held with the Khumbu Icefall, Nupste, and the West shoulder of Everest in plain view.
