Happy International Women’s Day to all my female identifying dodgeballers out there! We’ve taken a long break from the pod due to some life changes and refocusing our goals, but the Women of Dodgeball podcast is returning to help cover Women’s dodgeball! We will be starting out with a recap of the latest Southwest foam/cloth rounds and discuss what’s to come in the future.

Trans Women ARE Women.

“In 2019 & 2020, we saw a record number of anti-trans bills introduced across the United States. Many of these bills targeted high school athletes. One - HB500 in Idaho - made it into law.

As of March 13, 2021, one state (Mississippi) has several bills have already been proposed to prevent transgender athletes from participating with their peers. Each time a bill is heard and voted on, lawmakers take into account the outreach from constituents and others who write in to express support or opposition for a bill. Writing and calling lawmakers does make a difference.”

As a part of Women’s History Month, we will be highlighting different women’s sport programs to spread awareness. Today the organization we will promote is This Girl Can

Launched in January 2015 in the UK, This Girl Can is a nationwide campaign to get women and girls moving, regardless of shape, size and ability. This Girl Can was born from a desire to tackle the fact that despite increases in the overall number of people being active in England, women persistently remained less active than men.

The campaign celebrates active women who are doing their thing no matter how they look, how well they do it or how sweaty they get. This Girl Can want to challenge the conventional idea of what exercise looks like and reach out to women of all backgrounds and ethnicities who feel left behind by traditional exercise.

“No one gets to choose how you exercise other than you. Your body, your call. And whatever that looks like, we think it’s worth celebrating. This Girl Can, funded by The National Lottery, believes that there’s no “right” way to get active. However you jiggle, kick, lift, stretch, or sprint, it’s time to get moving how you damn please.”

As a part of Women’s History Month, we will be highlighting different women’s sport programs to spread awareness. Today the organization we will promote is Women’s Sport Foundation!

Women’s Sports Foundation is a US- based organization founded in 1974 by the famous Tennis legend Billie Jean King with the aim of “advancing the lives of women and girls through sports and physical activity”.

Today, the organization strives to empower women and girls by giving them the opportunity to participate in sports, allowing them to unfold their leadership potential. Currently focuses on financially supporting high-school girls as well as -women- college students in advancing their aspirations of becoming sports professionals.
The foundation also takes initiatives in educating girls and women, by providing them with skills required to advance their athletic careers and be able to healthily compete in their sports. Last but not least, Women’s Sports Foundation actively advocates, through various channels, to advance Women’s rights and reduce inequality both on and off the sports field.
