In school color war one year, the teams were לחם (bread), מים (water), and יין (wine). Team Yayin’s mantra was:
אין שמחה אלא בבשר ויין;
There is no joy without meat and wine. I always thought that was an incorrect phrase. There is definitely no joy without song.
Chazzan Greene and West Side Simcha, the joy you brought to our community for this year’s Shabbat of Song was immeasurable. I did not think that you could top last year’s Shabbat of Song, which was the first large scale simcha a lot of us attended since Covid began. But you did. Thank you for such a beautiful Shabbat!
