Super stoked to say I’ll be joining for the foreseeable as a resident! Having played twice now in the last year & knowing the guys for even longer since the legendary freakin days I cannot wait to get involved more regularly and hone my craft. ”Höga Nord Rekords kindly welcomes Teecwa back to the label, following up his last full length-album “Beyond the Altai” with “Elysian On Moon Lake”. He is still exploring the intersections between house, electro, techno and dub and once again he manages to harness the analogue electronics in his machines to produce modern psychedelia.

“Elysian On Moon Lake” is rawer, less airy and not as sparkling as his last album. This is a tighter, and slightly darker experience than Teecwa’s previous work, maybe caused by being in quarantine for extensive time during production, letting some of the dreaminess aside for the harsher reality in a pandemic world. Still, you get a mind-altering experience in a lot of tracks since the album starts off in a lighter tone than how it later develops. Switching from the A- to the B-side works as a rite of passage going from dusk to night; the sunrays through the blinders are replaced by neon light dancing on the walls and ceiling.

Regarding the dramaturgy of “Elysian On Moon Lake”, this album has movielike qualities; a well-directed piece from the opening impact and setup through the confrontational part where intensity builds up to the climax in “Hythm Doser” to the cooling down effect of the peaceful closer “Celstial Trails”. The trip eventually ends up in a safe and happy place after the cathartic finale.

This is not a just collection of songs, this is an album made to experience in full length without interruptions.”

Spring has sprung and it's definitely time for a Bad Chapel party! We are hugely excited to announce that the stars have aligned for this one to light up your May featuring local maestro TECWAA, to celebrate the launch of his new LP.

It’s great to host a talent from our home city who is genuinely cutting it on the world stage. Over the last 5 years Tecwaa has released organic, deep techno cuts on such labels as Futureboogie, Sulk Magic, Les Yeux Orange and Mirela, as well as his outstanding debut album "Beyond The Altai" on the seriously cool Gothenberg imprint Höga Nord Rekords. Höga Nord are also hosting the release of the new album “Elysian On Moon Lake” on May 27th, a Utopian / Dystopian soundtrack they describe as “exploring the intersections between house, techno, electro and dub… to produce modern psychedelia”. Can’t wait!

Tecwaa will be djing alongside Bad Chapel residents Tor & Leo in a no-holds-barred, anything goes launch party on May 21st at Bluebox, a new venue for us nestled in the city centre with a kick ass soundsystem and a dancefloor made for late night shenanigans. Tickets are 6 quid available via the link in the event with any remaining spots going for £10 on the door. Doors open 10pm, last entry is 1am and the party rolls till 4am. See you on the 21st!

This last week I’ve completed putting the finishing touches to two new albums of which will be released later this year. Listening thoroughly back through them both I’m completely proud to the bones with both these LPs. The first I wrote entirely in the first couple of months of lockdown last year, all during the precious 2 hour windows when my baby girl was napping...the album weaves through from warm instrumental downtempo through to dark disco & harder techno....the second LP, much brighter in a sense, was written in my new studio, this year. A journey through Balearic, Leftfield & sunset vibes...they’re totally different albums vibe wise & I think this subconsciously reflects the headspace I was at during both creative processes. No doubt we’ve all been through similar motions this last year, a bizarre one to say the least. Like most of us I’m not expecting a fully closed door on it all soon but optimism for brighter days to come I think is paramount right now. Keep them eyes n lugs out for these albums, hopefully you’ll love them as much as I did producing them. X

Remix for Man Power on Me Me Me due out next Friday! Pretty much everyone on this compilation produced their tracks with some limitations...mine was done start to finish in about 2.5 hours, using two Roland boutiques 09/03 and a VST. The end product was something totally different to what I normally produce. Without being able to get the guitars & synths out properly, what came was a much more centre/straight up club vibe track than my usual weird, psych/leftfield stuff. I definitely learnt a lot in the process about my techniques and angles of approach to completing a track. All profits for this go straight to the NHS! X
