Killah Priest first made himself known to the hip hop world by rapping on two songs on the Gravediggaz album 6 Feet Deep (which are "Diary of a Madman" and "Graveyard Chamber") in 1994, and followed this with two appearances on each of two Wu-Tang Clan solo albums, Ol' Dirty Bastard's Return to the 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version and GZA's Liquid Swords, both from 1995 (see 1995 in music). Liquid Swords in fact included a Killah Priest solo track titled "B.I.B.L.E. (Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth)". Also in 1995, Priest's group Sunz Of Man with rappers Hell Razah, 60 Second Assassin, Prodigal Sunn, and Shabazz the Disciple were signed to Wu-Tang Records and released three 12" singles through the label. Initially, Sunz Of Man included Shabazz the Disciple, who had previously been in a duo with Priest called The Disciples Of Armageddon, .

Killah Priest's first solo album was Heavy Mental, released on Geffen Records on February 24, 1998. It mostly expanded on the themes of "B.I.B.L.E.", featuring religious references and allegory woven into commentary on African American society and history. The album was mostly produced by the Wu-Elements producers, a group of in-house Wu-Tang producers mentored by Wu leader RZA. Sunz Of Man released their debut album The Last Shall Be First later in 1998, but by that time Priest's ties to the Wu were beginning to weaken, as he and long-time friend Shabazz clashed with RZA (their business ties with the Wu also began to weaken after the GZA Entertainment management agency, which they were both signed to, dissolved in 1996). After unsuccessful attempts by the pair to create new post-Wu Tang crews (Priest proposed a crew called the Maccabeez which would include himself, Shabazz, and Timbo King among others, while Shabazz proposed a group including himself and Priest called the Sunz Of Thunder) they both effectively went their separate ways and cut their respective Wu-Tang ties.

Welcome to another episode of Do Tha Knowledge Radio. The place where Knowledge is Born. I am your host Knowledge Born Allah. Join us for an insightful sit down with a legendary pioneer hip hop journalist, author, and actor Bonz Malone as he shares his journey as a storyteller curating the legacy of hip hop.
Malone began his writing career at Youth Communication in 1986, where he was a teen writer and reporter for New Youth Connections (later renamed YCteen), a magazine written by and for New York City public high-school students. At Youth Communication, Malone developed and perfected his hip-hop writing style in a monthly column called Streetalk, which ran from 1987 to 1989. Malone later took the Streetalk column and style to Spin magazine, Vibe magazine, and other venues for which he became a notable contributor.

In 1995, he wrote the Notorious B.I.G. cover story for the July issue of The Source magazine titled, "King of New York", which became the magazine's highest-selling issue. In the same month of that year his feature article, Deep Space Nine was published in Vibe magazine, being the first article to introduce all nine members of the Wu-Tang Clan.

Malone is the author of the coffee table book Hip Hop Immortals, for which he profiled 85 hip hop artists and features the photography of David LaChapelle, Mark Seliger, Jesse Frohman, Christian Witkin, and Michel Comte among others.

While Malone was at Youth Communication he was featured in What's Going On, the Marc Levin television documentary about graffiti and street life. It was the first of several Levin films in which he appeared. Malone starred in Levin's 1998 prison film Slam,[6] which won the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize for a dramatic film at Sundance. He then appeared in Levin's 1999 Whiteboyz starring Dash Mihok, Mark Webber, and Danny Hoch among a number of hip hop star cameos, and Levin's 2001 Brooklyn Babylon -- a Romeo and Juliet story set amid the Caribbean African - Hasidic Jewish clash of the Crown Heights riot starring Black Thought and the rest of The Roots.

Malone played supporting roles in Life, the 2000 Jonathan Singleton Shaft, Adam Bhala Lough's 2002 Bomb the System again with Marc Webber, and starred in the 2004 Men Without Jobs, and The Jerky Boys' Kamal Ahmed's 2003 God Has a Rap Sheet.

Malone was the script consultant for the 1992 film, Juice directed by Ernest Dickerson and starring Tupac Shakur and Omar Epps.

Urban Excellence CEO The Black Dot will share his thoughts on the research question:

Does The Hip Hop Industry Owe Black People Reparations?

The Black Dot is a writer, author, lecturer, and emcee. The Black Dot began his career as a columnist for the underground Hip Hop newspaper called, “4 Korners.” His knowledge and wisdom of the metaphysical aspects of the culture provided great insight into the potential of Hip Hop’s future beyond the physical components of the art form. The Black Dot is the author of the underground, cult classic book, “Hip Hop Decoded," and his newest edition "Urban Culture Decoded." He is also an international lecturer who has taught about the culture of Hip Hop in Germany, London, Bermuda, and Toronto, as well as HBCUs like Spellman and Howard. He also lectures at schools, bookstores, and street corners.

As an emcee, The Black Dot released his first album in 1988 under the infamous B-Boy records label as a part of a group called, “Tall, Dark, and Handsome.” In 1994, he then went on to start his own label and released his second album called, “A&R Killer, Da Hip Hop Play” as a part of a group called, “The Lethahedz” which uncovered many of the injustices that are still relevant in the music industry today.
