Together as allies, not adversaries 💛

Through widespread rabies vaccination in dogs, we create safer, more harmonious lives for both people and their canine companions.

🌱 Are You Eating Your Way to the Grave? 🍔➡️🌾
The Daily Monitor, Uganda’s most popular newspaper, led with this cover story, highlighting the importance of this issue in Uganda.

Does someone in your family have diabetes or a heart condition?
💔 All participants in our recent health focus group shared that either themselves or a close family member has diabetes or high blood pressure. Noncommunicable diseases are responsible for 37% of deaths in Uganda (WHO, 2021).

Diabetes is one of the leading causes of blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, strokes, and non-traumatic lower limb amputations in Uganda (WHO, 2023).

The good news? These are highly preventable!

✨ Did you know? Cholesterol is only found in animal products like meat, fish, dairy, and eggs—not in plants. High cholesterol clogs arteries, leading to heart attacks, strokes, and other life-threatening conditions.

By reducing animal products in your diet, you can lower your cholesterol by up to 25%!

🍽️ Visit our website for delicious plant-based recipes and tips to live a longer, healthier life. Let’s make the change together!

💔💔💔 Stop the Massacre of stray animals 🇺🇬! 💔💔💔

The Kajjansi Town Council in Uganda has decided to brutally KILL innocent stray dogs and cats. They plan to carry out this horrific act on November 21st, 2024. Today!

This is unacceptable! These animals are living beings who deserve compassion and care. There’s a humane solution: Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR). This method reduces the stray population while ensuring the well-being of animals and the entire community.

We need your voice!

▪️Tag Kajjansi Town Council and demand they choose compassion over cruelty.
▪️Send an email to the council (link in bio), expressing your outrage and advocating for animal protection.

Let’s save lives together! Share this post, spread awareness, and let’s make a difference.

💔 Heartbreaking Update 💔

We’ve received devastating news about the puppies you all so generously donated food for. A number of the puppies have been killed, and the remaining stray dogs in the area—apart from the mother dog—have been rounded up and sold by animal traffickers and dog meat traders.

Our sources have confirmed that these ruthless traders are operating in the area, and while some members of the community are aware, they have not stopped them. Adding to this tragedy, the food and bowls we provided were locked away at the compound. The mother dog was only fed recently because a foreign volunteer happened to visit the compound.

🚨 The staff at the compound are actively preventing volunteers from helping the dogs and are using intimidation to stop aid.

This is why we urgently need your help to break this cycle of suffering and barbarity.

This horrific practice not only causes unimaginable cruelty but also spreads deadly diseases like rabies, which pose a threat to both animals and humans. Tragically, the poverty and lack of education in these areas allow such exploitation to continue unchecked.

We will NOT give up. With your help, we can stop this cycle of abuse and create lasting change.

Your donations will help us:
✅ Provide daily food for starving dogs and cats.
✅ Establish feeding areas for stray animals.
✅ Deliver proper veterinary care, including vaccinations.
✅ Recruit volunteer vets to treat these animals.

Please, if you can, donate today to support the “Helping the Strays in Ghana” project. Together, we can build a kinder future for these animals.

🐶🐱 JOIN US this Saturday for another companion animal health clinic in Cape Agulhas🐾.

Residents are invited to bring their furry companions to Lesedi Square in Bredasdorp East for primary veterinary care 💊💉. This includes sponsored vaccinations, deworming, and the treatment of minor wounds and illnesses.

The hall doors will be open from 9:00am until 11:30am. ✍️ To register your pets, simply contact Cobin from AACL at 082 898 0787.

Humane Society International - Africa’s “Healthy Pets, Healthier Community” program aims to tackle the overpopulation of community and street animals, reduce the number of homeless pets, and enhance the overall wellbeing of our furry friends.

🌟 It’s also designed to foster stronger bonds between pets and their owners while providing valuable education on proper pet care.

In collaboration with our partner organisations Luv4Pets NPO and Animal Anti-Cruelty League Bredasdorp and the Cape Agulhas Municipality.

🐾💉Five reasons why getting your dog vaccinated is a decision you’ll never regret!

1️⃣ Disease Prevention: Vaccinations protect your dog from potentially life-threatening diseases like rabies, parvovirus, distemper, and more. Prevention goes a long way in ensuring a happy, healthy life for your four-legged friend.

2️⃣ Community Health: Vaccinating your dog not only shields them but also contributes to the overall well-being of the community.

3️⃣ Long, Happy Life: By staying up-to-date on vaccinations, you’re giving your dog the best chance at a long and fulfilling life.

4️⃣ Cost-Effective Care: Preventing diseases through vaccination is far more cost-effective than treating them.

5️⃣ Peace of Mind: Knowing your dog is protected provides peace of mind for you and your family. It allows your furry friend to enjoy a life full of tail-wagging adventures without unnecessary health concerns.

Let’s prioritise the health and happiness of our canine companions! A little needle today means a lot of tail wags tomorrow! 🌟🐕

・・・
Did you know that there are an estimated 7,800 lions kept in more than 342 captive facilities across South Africa, breeding lions and other big cats for commercial purposes such as cub petting, volun-tourism, entertainment, “canned” or captive trophy hunting, and trade. 🦁💔

The public is often encouraged to support these facilities as part of their “conservation programs”, but this is often done under false pretenses. In fact, paying to play with lion cubs, using them as photo props, or visiting predator parks in South Africa is a for-profit business that fuels the cruel commercial captive breeding - and killing - industry.

⚠ YOU can be part of the change! Say NO to interactions with big cats and SIGN Humane Society International - Africa’s Big Cats SA petition here: hsi.org/bigcatssa to help urge South African Government to:
❌ ban the breeding of all big cats and predators in captivity;
❌ ban public contact with big cat species and other captive predators, including interactive experiences like cub petting and “walking with” experiences; and
❌ ban the keeping of big cat species as pets or as ambassador species in captive or so-called ‘educational’ facilities.all.
