WHAT IS LC IN FINANCE?

WHY BANKS DO NOT OPEN LC?
Banks may not open a letter of credit (LC) for various reasons. Some possible reasons include:
Insufficient creditworthiness of the buyer: Banks may be hesitant to open an LC if the buyer does not have a good credit history or if they do not have the financial capability to pay for the goods or services being purchased.
Lack of collateral: Banks may require the buyer to provide collateral in order to open an LC, and if the buyer is unable to provide the necessary collateral, the bank may not open the LC.
Inadequate documentation: Banks may require certain documentation to be provided before opening an LC, such as a purchase order or a bill of lading. If the buyer is unable to provide the necessary documentation, the bank may not open the LC.
Risk assessment: Banks assess the risk of the transaction before opening an LC. If the bank perceives too much risk in the transaction, it may choose not to open the LC.
