Forget about your political affiliation for a minute. As someone with a little experience in the political arena, I can say that giving up power when there is even a fleeting chance you can keep fighting for the things you believe in is one of the hardest things an elected leader can do. True selflessness is increasingly rare in our country, and nowhere more than in our broken political discourse.

History should remember Joe Biden as a good man and an American patriot. I know I will. 🇺🇸

If everyone complaining about our political situation spent just a fraction of that time educating themselves with factual sources and voting, America would be a much healthier and more functional nation.

This trend of "I'm above all of this because both candidates are terrible" is as much an indictment on the electorate as it is on any one candidate or party. It's a lazy rationalization to avoid doing our civic duty, bordering on unpatriotic.

Thomas Jefferson said, "An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people." We the people have a pivotal role in this process, and frankly, too many of us are failing in our civic obligation to participate in our democracy.

And yeah, I know all the talking points and conventional wisdom, but I also know from spending nearly every election cycle over the past 25 years in the trenches that the biggest challenge is getting voters to care enough to actually vote. If their vote is informed by facts that align with their personal beliefs instead of something they read on a bumper sticker, that's a bonus.

Nobody is "too cool" to exercise our hard-won constitutional right to vote, with the inherent understanding that those votes have at least some causal connection to facts and reality. A whole hell of a lot more of us need to realize that if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem.

Worst. Lifetime. Movie. Ever.

All kidding aside, Senator Katie Britt is just horrible. The overdramatic fear-mongering from this condescending N**i Soccer Mom Barbie.

A couple of things worth pointing out:

• For a party so hell-bent on scaring us senseless about crime, they don't have a problem nominating and supporting a guy running for President who is facing four criminal trials for over 90 charges.

• The part about "kitchen table" economic issues, especially high interest rates and record credit card debt, really struck me as hypocritical. Literally two days ago, President Biden announced a final rule from the Consumer Financial Protect Bureau that will cut credit card late fees by capping them at $8 per month- that's a 75% decrease.

Sounds good, right? Guess who vowed to fight this measure to protect consumers from over $1 billion in fees every year? That's right- Congressional Republicans like Senator Katie Britt. • Scaring the bejesus out of everyone about the border would be a lot more believable if you hadn't just negotiated a bipartisan border security bill that you then voted against because Donald Trump decided that talking about the border was more important than doing anything about it. Even the lead Republican negotiator on the bill, Republican Senator James Lankford, was caught on camera saying, "that's true" when President Biden laid out what the border bill would have done to secure the border. Like, how much more do we need to see to understand how brazenly hypocritical they are?

And I'm not even getting into the issue of choice and IVF because I'll be so mad I won't be able to get to sleep.

We used to have loyal opposition; now we have hypocritical insurrectionists.
