THE ROUGHER THE ROAD, THE SMOOTHER TINUBU'S RIDE TO VICTORY
by Bayo Osiyemi

This is the first time I'm sharing this publicly.
I had said it in several private fora before now that my wish for APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to continue to be assailed on every front by all manner of darts up till three days to the presidential election, to guarantee his victory at the February 25 presidential poll.

If he is left severely alone without fair and unfair accusation: if he's not accused of being responsible for every woe afflicting every home: if he is not accused of being responsible for the impotency of this impotent man or the barrenness of that other woman or the vacancy in the brain of the indolent, he may find it difficult to surmount odds.

I had long done a diligent study of the Tinubu persona and had been convinced beyond a doubt that the prayer made popular in his life time by the foremost educationist and founder of the unconventional Mayflower School, Ikenne in Ogun State, Dr Tai Solarin, must have been said by its author with Bola Tinubu in mind.

Solarin, the social engineer and critic, copied that prayer and wished every reader of his columns either in the Daily Times or the Nigerian Tribune at every Christmas: "May your road be rough !"
He did explain those who objected to that prayer what he meant by it, but that explanation did not wash with many.

If anyone had studied Tinubu's ascendancy from the very beginning, his trajectory is akin to the Yoruba true saying that " Ninu igbago ni mariwo ti n s'eso". The lustrous palm fonds thrive within the squeezing of the many thorns on the apex of the palm tree.

That is Tinubu's luck and there's nothing he or anybody else can do about that. To attempt a reversal of that is to alter his destiny which, I'm convinced is un-alterable, because he is specially created for exploits. Check what he went through to become Senator of the Federal Republic, the Governor of Lagos State up to when he became the last man standing among his peers and his uncommon achievements after leaving the governorship seat. The treachery and the perfidy he had endured !

Me? I can wager a bet on it: loathe or love him, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to sit pretty on this nation's presidential throne, come the 25th of this month - the special and unique month of my birth !

PRESS STATEMENT

It is fake news: Tinubu never asked governors to disregard President Buhari

Our attention has been drawn to a fake viral news published by the Peoples Gazette, claiming Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate has asked APC governors to ignore President Muhammadu Buhari’s broadcast and enforce the Supreme Court ruling on the recirculation of old Naira notes.

The publication by the platform is fake .

Tinubu never issued such an order. Mr Dele Alake, the APC-PCC Adviser on Media and Communications never issued such advisory on behalf of Asiwaju Tinubu.

The message quoted by Peoples Gazette was being randomly shared on WhatsApp. Mr Alake was not the author.

Asiwaju Tinubu has been known, since the currency swap crisis started, to call for calm as the authorities try to find out a solution to the currency crisis. He has also offered a six-point suggestions to lessen the anguish our people are facing in trying to get money from the banks.

He has also held several meetings with President Buhari, his leader over the matter.

It is thus inconceivable and unthinkable that he would instruct APC governors to disregard President Muhammadu Buhari’s order on the currency matter.

Governors who have so far declared this line of action said clearly that they were acting on the ruling of the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land.

Asiwaju has had no influence in this decision.

Journalists, unless acting on the dictates of political opponents or prosecuting some agenda, should endeavour to confirm authorship of their materials from the Media and Publicity Directorate of the campaign. They can also seek confirmation from the Tinubu Media Office or Mr. Alake .

The Gazette should recant the story with immediate effect.

PRESS RELEASE

In Kogi, Tinubu promises revival of Ajaokuta, dredging of River-Niger
..Says those who wanted to take advantage of naira swap hardship are shamed

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said if elected into office he will ensure revival of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex in Kogi State, in addition to other critical projects.

Speaking at the APC campaign rally in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, on Wednesday, Asiwaju Tinubu said his government would prioritize development of mineral resources in the North Central state, in addition to dredging the River Niger which will allow ships to berth in inland ports.

"Hope is here. Ajaokuta resuscitation will be done. Dredging of Niger River will be done. Agriculture will be the source of our prosperity. North Central has the potential for great mineral industrialization, we will work on that, " he said.

Tinubu also felicitated with the people of Kogi State and other Nigerians over the Supreme Court judgment on the currency swap impasse, saying those who wanted to take advantage of the situation have failed.

The presidential candidate said members of the opposition were counting on the unintended suffering caused by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) policy to play to their advantage.

The Supreme Court had in a unanimous judgment on Wednesday halted the February 10 deadline for the validity of the old higher denomination naira notes, pending hearing on the substantive suit filed by Kogi, Kaduna and Zamfara State governments. The case is adjourned to February 15.

Tinubu lauded the mammoth crowd for turning up for the event in spite of the challenges, asking them to repeat the same on the day of election.

He said the opposition wanted to take advantage of the people's hardship.

"They even rejoiced when you cannot sell your products," he said.

"You will never see hardship in your lives. You will see prosperity, you will see progress," the APC candidate said to a thunderous amen from the crowd.

"This your determination, I want you to multiply it. On the 25th of February, there will be vote for president, for senators and House of Representatives members, it is in your hands now. But we have come to remind you, whether by Keke NAPEP, or by bicycle or even with your legs, you should go here in the morning. Cast your vote, be vigilant. Do your part, play your own role."

Tinubu assured the electorate of the best deal when they elect him as president, promising to accomplish important projects that will foster development.

"I guarantee you I know how to do it. I am smarter than their candidate. I am the front runner, the best candidate. I know the road. I am a man who knows how to develop wealth, a man who keeps promises."

In his remarks, Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello recalled that the state had a good showing for the APC during the 2019 poll, saying the performance will be surpassed this time around.

Like Tinubu, Bello also lampooned members of the opposition parties who, he said, were counting on the "unbearable" situation created to reap support at the polls.

"We have seen clearly between light and darkness. Some few elements decided to make life unbearable so that our party will be affected.

"Our leader made his stance clear to the whole country. He showed that he is with the people. Some people decided to make a political capital out of it."

He described the cashless policy as "a good policy which some people want to turn around to inflict hardship on our people".

Governor Bello said with the Supreme Court order, "hope has been renewed. Go ahead and use your money, the old and the new Naira."

The rally was attended by the APC Vice Presidential Candidate Senator Kashim Shettima, APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari, Governors Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (Kwara), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger) and Mohammed Badaru Abubakar (Jigawa).

Others were the APC National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu; Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council, Hon James Faleke; former Bauchi State Governor MA Abubakar, among others.

PRESS RELEASE

Tinubu hails Nigerian Governors over Supreme Court ruling on CBN Naira Swap policy

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has hailed the Governors of the 36 states for standing on the side of the Nigerian people over the Central Bank new Naira and cashless policies that have subjected the masses to pains.

According to Asiwaju Tinubu, the Governors especially the APC Governors who instituted the suit against the CBN and Federal Government at the Supreme Court acted well on behalf of the hapless Nigerians who have been made to bear the brunt of Naira redesign policy that has been poorly implemented

The Supreme Court on Wednesday morning in a law suit brought before it by the governments of Zamfara, Kogi and Kaduna States gave an interim injunction against the CBN and Federal Government, allowing the old N200, N500 and N1000 to remain legal tender beyond February 10 deadline until the case is fully disposed.

Following the apex court ruling, Asiwaju Tinubu noted that the governors have saved the country from a needless political and economic crises and miseries which have clearly become the unintended consequences of the monetary policy of the apex bank.

Asiwaju Tinubu noted that the Supreme Court ruling coincided with the advisory of the International Monetary Fund urging for the extension of the deadline for the swap of the old naira notes, going by the problems being experienced across the country in getting the new notes.

"I want to salute the courage of our Governors and most especially the Progressives Governors in APC who acted to save our country from avoidable and dangerous political crises and social unrest which the Central Bank policy on new Naira notes has brought on our country.

“Our country was dangerously careering toward anarchy and political and economic shutdown. But with the Supreme Court interim ruling our country has been pulled back from the precipice. We thank our Supreme Court Justices for ruling wisely on the side of the people who have been subjected to undue agony and pains since this policy was announced.

"The Federal Government and relevant stakeholders can now sit down and work out better framework on how to proceed with the new policy without causing any social and economic disruption and inconvenience to our people. We have examples of other countries that have successfully and seamlessly changed their currencies to learn from.

“Those countries give a long time, at least 12 months to effect the currency change. They do not engage in CBN-like Fire Brigade approach.

"We have seen how a good policy can be poorly implemented to cause unintended problems for the people who should be the beneficiaries. While lessons have been learnt, we must now move on as a country and people with a Renewed Hope for a better tomorrow.

“The sole aim of my running to be the president of our country is to make life better and more abundant for our people and this is an ideal for which I will remain eternally committed to."

Asiwaju Tinubu called on the CBN to ensure that the Supreme Court ruling is effectively executed by taking all necessary steps to (i) ensure sufficient availability of Naira notes (whether old or new) and (ii) properly sensitising the public on the ruling and the consequent validity of old Naira.

PRESS RELEASE

In Lafia, Buhari declares Tinubu as next President of Nigeria
..Tinubu says Nigeria will recover from challenges

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared that the All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will be the next President of Nigeria.

President Buhari made the declaration in Lafia, capital of Nasarawa State, on Saturday at the APC Presidential Campaign rally that had thousands of party supporters and residents.

The president confirmed Asiwaju Tinubu's earlier statement on their over 20 years friendship, assuring Nigerians and the people of Nasarawa State that the APC presidential candidate would be a good President that will make the country better after him.

President Buhari assured party members and supporters that Asiwaju Tinubu would win the election.

In both English and Hausa, the president said: "I am happy to be part of the campaign today for Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the next President of Nigeria and Governor Sule for his second and final term.

"We will win through and through. I trust Tinubu's dedication and service. I have known Bola Tinubu for more than 20 years. I will continue to campaign for him. He is a committed Nigerian and I believe he will give everything to make Nigeria better.

"He loves this country. He is a believer in Nigeria and I am sure he will do everything possible to advance the wellbeing of all of us as citizens. He will hold this country with trust. You should cherish him.

"Those of you who are here I urge you to go back to your friends and family to tell them to vote for him. We will all vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president."

In his own address at the rally, Asiwaju Tinubu saluted the courage of the President who he said continues to offer leadership with boldness and courage despite all the challenges, adding that the country will recover from her challenges.

Speaking further, the APC Presidential Candidate compared President Buhari with former United States President Abraham Lincoln who also led his country in a time of crisis and still recorded huge achievements in infrastructural development like President Buhari has done for Nigeria.

On his friendship and relationship with the President, Tinubu said those who have concluded there is a crack have had their joy cut short because their friendship is strong, enduring and about nation-building.

"Our President and Leader of APC worldwide, it is a thing of joy that you a poster boy for APC and Bola Tinubu today. Those who think there are cracks in our friendship and relationship will continue to be disappointed and have their short time joy dashed. Ours is not about individuals. It is about integrity and nation-building.

"Nobody ever thought a man in uniform will ever be a democratic, principled and honoured Leader. Today, it is a thing of joy and honour to have you at the rally.

"For us who joined hands with you 20 years ago to reshape Nigeria, to fight corruption, to fight destitution, to fight failure and hunger, we are proud of your achievements.

"President Buhari faced the challenges of Nigeria courageously and squarely. You fought hard and worked hard. Nigeria is surviving as a nation and we believe because of constitutional democracy, we would have asked you to stay on but you said no you are going back to Daura.

"You said there is more to do and you will allow other people to continue. There are few leaders who have faced some challenges, crisis like you did and continue to build infrastructure. One of them is Abraham Lincoln. You have joined such great men who can stay focused in the midst of distractions and enemies. You have tolerated criticisms, there is no labelling you have not endured but today in Nasarawa you are celebrated, commissioning projects after projects.

"We can see true leadership but we may not be able to read the mind of the leader. Today, I stand before you and make a pledge again that Nigeria will recover from all challenges. We are brave. We are resilient. We will focus on agriculture, we will build our mineral resources. We will turn the earth and our dust to money. We will work hard. We promise you. Your children and grandchildren will not have any regret about our nation and ourselves. Happiness, joy and prosperity will be part of our success," said Asiwaju Tinubu.

National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, addressed the rally in Hausa. He told supporters the history of friendship between President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Tinubu and rallied them to vote for APC because of the good job the current administration of APC in Nigeria has accomplished for the country and in Nasarawa State.

He later presented the party's flag to Governor Abdullahi Sule as the governorship candidate of the party for second term.

The carnival-like campaign rally had many top Federal Government officials in attendance. Senate President, Dr. Ahmed Lawan noted that Nasarawa is a special state that means victory and peace.

"We are here to celebrate excellence. The people should vote Asiwaju Tinubu. President Buhari has always come to Nasarawa to commission projects. APC has delivered excellence to the people of the State," he added.

In the same vein, Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Farouq joined the party’s National Women Leader Betta Edu to mobilise women support for the presidential candidate.

The Minister reeled out how Nasarawa State had benefited from the Social Investment Programmes of the APC-led administration, admonishing the people that only Asiwaju Tinubu will consolidate on the gains for them to continue to enjoy the benefits.

Plateu State Governor and Director-General of the Campaign Council, Simon Lalong, former Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-makura, told the people to vote for all APC candidates in the coming elections.

Progressives Governors' Forum leader and Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, led his colleagues to the campaign ground and spoke on their behalf.

Governor Bagudu told the people to continue to support APC administration and vote the party candidates in the general elections despite the current challenges of fuel and new Naira notes scarcity caused by saboteurs.

Bagudu said, "the current challenges of Naira and fuel scarcity are transitional issues. Opposition want to cash in to demarket our party but we are proud of President Muhammadu Buhari's achievements and achievements of APC governors in their states.

"We are proud of our party, we are proud of our presidential candidates, Asiwaju Tinubu and his running mate, Senator Shettima, and we know they will win the election in the next 21 days.

The campaign rally attracted many party big wigs, governors and former governors. Among those in attendance were Vice Presidential Candidate, Senator Kashim Shettima, Governors Yahaya Bello, Babagana Zulum, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, Sani Bello, Mohammed Abubakar Badaru and David Umahi.

PRESS RELEASE

At Edo TownHall, Tinubu says Nigeria will make money from gas deposits in Edo
..PDP abuse does not move President Buhari

All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured the people of Edo State that he will make money for Nigeria and create prosperity for the people of the state by ensuring the development of the gas deposits in the state.

Tinubu speaking on Sunday at the town hall meeting in Benin to APC stakeholders and different trade groups and civil society organisations said under his leadership Nigeria will pipe gas to Europe and compete with Russia.

He urged the people of Edo State to take back their state from Peoples Democratic Party by forging unity of purpose.

He promised to be a listening president the people of Edo State can rely on.

"Edo, take your state back. First of all let us forge unity. Let's find the way where they say there is no way.

“We must rescue Edo State. I am ready to work with you. Take lantern, go from house to house. Don't get angry. Anger does not solve problems. Disappointment is an energiser for me. You Disappoint me, I work harder. You betray me, I don't get angry, I ignore you.

“The reason is because you are not my God and you are not my creator. My mother taught me if you are sad, I will share your sorrow with you, if you are happy I will rejoice with you. If you are poor I will share the little I have with you”.

The APC Presidential candidate charged the Edo State people not to vote for PDP and Atiku Abubakar because the opposition party is not organised and can't solve problems of the country.

"You see PDP. They are scattered, they don't know the road. Atiku does not know how to lie again except falsifying lie upon lie. Atiku cannot hold serious job for Nigeria. When they were privatising Aluminium Smelter Company at Ikot Abasi and privatising NITEL, I was negotiating Free Trade Zone in China. I negotiated Lekki Deep Seaport in Singapore and it is Deepest Sea Port now in West Africa. Edo people are extremely smart. You can do the job.

“Count on me at the federal level. I will be your listening President. Vote for me. Prosperity is here. When you put down ballot paper in the box say it is for creating job. I will create jobs for you because you are not lazy.”

On constant criticism of the Buhari-led APC administration by PDP, Asiwaju Tinubu said the opposition party should be ignored.

"People who can't give power to Nigeria say they want to come back. In only 8 years, APC put rail back. We are putting Refineries back and we will produce for you. They can abuse Buhari from morning till night, he does not hear their abuse. Abuse him, rail he provided, second Niger Bridge he provided, Lagos-Ibadan expressway he provided. Benin-Ore Port will be done so that you don't need to come to Lagos to clear your goods.

“Nigeria will make money because Edo has largest deposit of gas. We will make money for Nigeria. There will be long term money for long term projects. We will develop our gas and ship it to Europe and compete with Russia. I am one of the smartest assets of Nigeria."

Speaking further from his prepared speech at the town hall meeting, the former Lagos State Governor said his administration will grow the nation’s industrial base to provide decent jobs and improve the wages of Nigerians.

“We must now begin to make use of all our nation’s endowments. Greater industrialisation is a vital aspect of this. Through the production of more and better goods we shall improve our standard of living, provide workers with a living wage and establish businesses that will drive our national economy for generations.”

According to the APC candidate, massive industrialisation across the country will cause economic prosperity to spread across the length and breadth of this country.

“Our industrial plan shall encourage the establishment of new manufacturing concerns across the country. We see a future in which Nigeria is known as a nation that produces high quality goods worthy of export to anywhere in the world.

“To achieve this vision, we shall use an array of policy measures. On the fiscal side, we shall employ tax credits and holidays, youth employment incentives, export credits and well-tailored subsidies where necessary. On the monetary side, we will work with the banking sector to channel low interest loans to the manufacturing sector.

“We will spark a consumer credit revolution where affordable credit is available so people can purchase cars, homes and appliances without carrying the burden of paying for such costly items all at once.

“Our policies will afford local artisans and craftsmen throughout the nation the necessary tools to provide for their families and, ultimately, boost overall economic activity for the national good,” he added.

Present at the town hall meeting were Deputy Director-General of APC Presidential Campaign Council, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu, former Edo State Governor, Professor Oserhiemen Osunbor, Edo State APC Governorship candidate in last state election, Pastor Ize Iyamu, Minister of Youths and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo and many other party leaders from Edo State.

Lagos APC reacts angrily over attack on innocent residents by PDP Guber candidate, Jide Adediran......as three people were reportedly killed

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reacted angrily over what it called the reign of terror unleashed on innocent and law abiding citizens of the state by the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming elections, Jide Adediran, otherwise known as Jandor.

Spokesman of the party, Hon Seye Oladejo in a statement said the terror was unleashed in the course of his campaign in Surulere Local Government Council of the state.

He said the incident left in its wake several maimed victims and three people reportedly sent to their untimely death.

Part of the statement read "We condemn in strong terms the unwarranted and unprovoked resort to violence on the citizens of the state in the name of electioneering campaign.
Lagos cherishes it’s enviable status as the safest state in the country which has been as a result of long running and painstaking investment in security through the provision of the wherewithal and incentives for security agencies'. End of quote.

Oladejo said the party viewed the attack as a ploy to instill fear in the hearts of voters as the days for the elections draw close.

According to him, it is pathetic to note that a candidate seeking to govern the state could be seen actively promoting anarchy and violence to disrupt the peace of the citizens.

The party called on the law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the incident , bring the culprits to book and beef security across the state with the obvious desperation of the opposition PDP in order to forestall a reoccurrence.

The ruling APC also urged Lagosians to remain calm and law abiding as the state government remains irrevocably committed to its onerous duty of ensuring the safety of lives and properties of all and sundry before, during and after the elections.
