The Pro-Life Review desires to see a world where abortion is unthinkable. This Valentine's Day, we invite you to follow our efforts to advocate for human dignity.

The unborn are human beings worthy of love and protection, but so are those who disagree with us about abortion. In our advocacy, let's not forget pro-choice people are also human beings deserving of respect. The way we treat them can have an impact on the way they think about the pro-life view when they encounter it again.

We must also extend love to the woman and her partner, as how we treat them will determine what pathways for reflection and healing will open up.

Let's go forward and advocate for the unborn with love.

The issues of in vitro fertilization (IVF) and surrogacy can often cause divides within the pro-life movement. Since they are practices that create life, it can be easy to think that one must support their use in order to be authentically pro-life. However, this view operates on a flawed and ultimately dangerous misconception of what it fundamentally means to be pro-life.

Treating one’s body this way is wrong, even if the person consents to it.

A beautiful story of adoption.

"To my daughter's birth mom, I want you to know a few things.

First, your daughter is not suffering! She is a ball of energy, a born communicator who dazzles everyone she meets, a nurturer who scooches over to the nearest crying baby to offer comfort.

She has many problems, yes, and a long road ahead of her, but already her life is full.

She loves fiercely, and she is loved just as fiercely in return; I would dare say her physical trials have sharpened her sense of love and giving, far beyond anything I could offer.

Secondly, I do not hate or think any less of you - just the opposite! Now, when someone asks me whom I admire most, I know how to answer.

The personal strength necessary to sign over your parental rights for a child whom you loved deeply (and I know you did and do) hoping one day she would be adopted by a family who could provide extensive medical care, just blows my mind.

I don’t think I could be that strong.

Thirdly, I want you to know that as our girl grows, I will tell her about you.

I will tell her that you loved and love her. I will tell her about your ethnic heritage. I will tell her about your home country: its beauty, its great food and incredible history.

Our family will not erase her past; we will add it to her personal life mosaic.

Lastly, your selfless actions have launched a little global community.

People from several countries made it possible for my family to adopt our shared daughter. This girl is truly an example of “It takes a village.” Because of her, hundreds of people know and care about special-needs adoption.

Who knows what will bloom from the seeds she has planted?

I know that life doesn’t always turn out the way we want it. I know that in an ideal world, she would still be with you.

Orphan care and adoption are hard. It flat-out sucks sometimes, for all parties from the birth parents like you, to the kids themselves, to adoptive families like mine.

But the joy, born from the hardships, is so worth it. Joy that would not have happened without your first decision to give our girl life.

Thank you for rejecting abortion, and thank you for trusting in the value of all life." -Crystal

Now, as the fight for life transitions to all levels of government, many changes are coming to the March for Life and the pro-life movement broadly.

Dr. Michael New shares his thoughts on the pro-life movement's future post-Roe.

A country that rightly advocates for diversity and punishes ableism is at the same time deciding before birth that certain souls do not deserve their own chance—because of the presence of the same differences and difficulties it celebrates in adults.

Why Abortion Cannot Be Left to the States

Both the Constitution’s demand for equal protection and the demands of moral duty impel us to enact a federal ban on abortion.

While not all pro-choice people reject the scientific case for the unborn’s humanity, pro-lifers should still know how to respond when confronted with someone who denies the unborn are biological persons.

Not all pro-choice people deny that the unborn are biological humans. Still, pro-lifers should understand how to present the scientific case against abortion.

The Pro-Life Review was offering free resources to women and men outside of the Metropolitan Family Planning Clinic today.

Sadly, it seemed like a pretty busy day today, but thankfully, many people took information about Let Them Live and other life-affirming support.

It’s important to remember when sidewalk counseling that not all of your interactions will be this long conversation where you witness an immediate turnaround.

Some interactions will be quick, and the impact you’ve had on this person may not always be clear.

But how will they remember this person who gave them information? How did you make them feel during that interaction, even if it was only a brief exchange?

How we approach people matters, and it usually plays a part in where this person will go next for help.

Women (and men, even if they don’t show it) may feel embarrassed, ashamed, sad, angry, or a wide range of complex emotions when entering an abortion facility. And unfortunately, they may already feel judged by you before talking with you because you’re pro-life.

No woman or man is the same, and you should expect people to react to things differently. Don’t compromise your values, but be open to changing your approach based on what each person seems to need.

The sidewalk is also not the same environment as a rally, a debate stage, or an outreach event.

It is the place where the unborn are being killed, and for pro-lifers, that can be heavy. Mistakes may be made at the sidewalk, but don’t blame yourself for each death.

Let people remember you for your kindness on what is likely the worst day of their life. When they look at the literature that you gave them, what kind of person will they remember gave it to them?

Even if they go through with the abortion, where will they go for healing?

It may only be a brief interaction that you have on the sidewalk as people enter the abortion facility, but that one exchange can leave a lasting impression.

Pro-lifers are often caught flat-footed in light of these accusations. Very often, we get caught in the trap of explaining that we actually do care about people outside the womb and that we really are nice people.

While this is often true, it doesn't meet the challenge raised by critics who often will just sneer and point out how (in their mind) we're still inconsistent. It is important we know how to respond.

One year ago today, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. While we’re grateful that we’re closer than ever before to securing the unborn’s equal protection from violence, there is still much to be done.

An entire group of people still face lethal discrimination.

Roe’s reversal is indeed something to celebrate, and many pro-lifers who lived to see this day are understandably overjoyed. We want to see a world where the most innocent human beings are protected from violence and society stand up for pregnant women.

It is not pro-woman to say that a female’s healthy biology is the problem and to continue allowing society to cater to the male body, which cannot become pregnant, as if it were the preferred model.

It is also not pro-woman to say that our liberation is dependent upon the ability to commit an act of violence against our offspring, whereas men do not require such “accommodations” to ensure their equal rights.

As pro-lifers commemorate Roe’s reversal, we must remember that this is the message pro-choice people see from us. Many pro-choice people may feel sad or scared as a result of the decision. It’s our job to help them understand our view. This is crucial to ending legal abortion.

And while the Supreme Court’s decision a year ago is certainly cause for celebration, pro-lifers should be careful not to become too complacent.

We still have to secure protections for the unborn at the state and federal levels. We must work to accommodate women and families through public and private means. And we must also work within our communities to educate the public about abortion and change hearts and minds.

What happened a year ago is a victory, to be sure, but our efforts are far from over. Let’s have hope and continue to move forward.

Two people took information today about free resources at the DC Planned Parenthood.

Remember: Don’t carry the weight of every interaction that doesn’t end with someone accepting help while you’re sidewalk counseling.

Review what you did after you finish sidewalk counseling. Consult resources like Equal Rights Institute’s sidewalk counseling course to see if there are ways you can improve for next time.

But don’t carry the weight of every failure, or you will burn out.

And even if your sidewalk counseling efforts don’t result in a save, maintain a peaceful presence outside the abortion facility. You never know how someone will remember the way you treated them.

When sidewalk counseling outside of an abortion facility, the way you treat a woman who is entering the clinic for an abortion or a woman who has already had an abortion may determine where she goes next for help.

Let her remember you for your kindness and love.

Counseling women as they’re about to enter an abortion facility or peacefully standing outside of it can seem scary.

But your presence matters. Showing up to offer love and support can make an impact. You may be the hopeful sign someone needs that day.

Children who grow up in poverty may live challenging lives, or they may overcome their circumstances.

But your value is not based on what you achieve or how you grew up. A poor child is still a human being deserving of respect and dignity.
