So today I turned 40. Six months ago I thought I needed a change before I really do start getting to old to change. I started hitting the gym every morning and altered my diet a little at a time. I never took a picture or really looked at myself very long wanting to see a real change at six months. I’m am calling this a success!! I went from 230 lbs. in November to 208 lbs. today. I don’t know who said it buy I say it to myself now everyday. “Do not be upset with the results you did not get, from the work you did not do.” I’m thinking of starting to post my journey to better health and letting you know what I do specifically for anyone else who might want to start changing or struggling with there health. If that interest anyone let me know.

So I’ve never hunted. My daughter Phoebe said a couple year ago she wanted to try. So I told her when she’s old enough, her and I would take hunter safety and put in for the draw in New Mexico. Well guess what she turned eleven and still want to hunt so we took hunter safety and put in for the draw. We both drew out to everyone’s major surprise. I listen to quite a bit. Listening to him and we knew the first this we knew we needed to do was really start working on our fitness. So that’s what we did. Row machine, stair climber, the track. All of it. Which is its own reward. Then we watched a lot of and plus their YouTube videos and tried to learn as much as we could. Bought some gear and we were off. We hunted hard for three days, seeing elk every time we went out. But being super novice we spooked them or they smelled us, whatever we just couldn’t make it happen. Today my brother in arms took us to this little area with some water in the Lincoln National Forest. We waited and waited. We had about 30 minutes of sunlight left and thought it was about time to pack it in. I began taking Phoebe’s rifle off her tripod and 3 cows and 2 bulls ran, and I mean ran up the the water. I got her all back and set up. She was looking though the scope as the 2 bulls began to fight. Most amazing thing I’ve ever seen. I told her to pick one and I would take the other. She said ok and pick the bigger of the 2. Both 5x5 bulls. We counted down and she hesitated. She said she didn’t want to shoot hers, but I should shoot mine. I said ok. Took my shot and he fell right there. Didn’t take a step. The absolute I could ask for. We took the pic together. Because this amazing little girl asked her daddy do the most difficult thing I think I’ve ever done. And she was right beside me the whole time. Never complained, never said no. Besides marrying my wife ( who was and is my most amazing supporter and biggest cheerleader even though we are doing something super crazy for us) having my 2 daughters and completing the police academy. This is number 4 on my greatest accomplishments.
