One of our favourite pieces from issue 6 was a think piece from the powerhouse that is Valerie Coleman aka 💫
“My challenge for 2022 is to start to look at your body differently. I am not saying don't lose weight because ultimately it IS about you & your choices. What I am saying is start to question why you want to lose weight. Start to think about exercise differently and give yourself goals that don't involve weight loss. Think about growing stronger so you can do a full push up or sit up or whatever the goal is. Let's collectively start to change the narrative & celebrate who we are. Remember that we could all eat the same & exercise the same & still not look the same. Let's look at our bodies and think about all the things they are rather than the things they aren't.
Let me just conclude by saying
You are enough
You deserve to take up space
You do NOT need to apologise for existing
You are amazing because there is no-one else like you & that alone makes you special”

We still don’t have the words to explain the sadness we feel for the people of Ukraine right now, and the people of Russia who did not want a war.
We have been working behind the scenes with local organisations to offer the help desperately needed. All we ask is that if you are in a position to help, that you do so.
We recognise the privilege of being able to use social media as a distraction but we wanted to acknowledge this situation and send love and solidarity to everyone.

Hello again Glasgow, it’s the Last day of the Xmas tree for us🎄
So we are BACK TO IT tomorrow and I’m not gonna lie, it’s sad to see it coming down, doesn’t it make everything just so much prettier.
So hello 2022, we have lots up our sleeves and can’t wait to bring the next issue to you in February, (god where does the time go)
We will have an announcement regarding our new journalist, and of course myself and vic will be here as usual
Back to normal from tomorrow and we will pick up all emails then too.

Issue 5! Issue 5. Wow, what can we say? To see this little magazine of ours supporting so many inspirational individuals across Glasgow makes our hearts & souls happy.
This issue, well it's all about love and kindness. In this (what should be) post-pandemic world, we need this more than ever. Continuing Covid variants, and the pressures that each and everyone one of us feels make us ever so grateful for the little pots of kindness we see each and every day.
Most of these acts go unnoticed, but we are working hard to take the time out, not only to notice these but to recognise them, appreciate them, nurture them. We find that when you do that, it makes your day, a little brighter, even the days that are fuelled by duvets, Netflix, and darkness.
So we pay homage to our wonderful contributors, readers, and every single person who supports us (all 27,592 of you)
Editing this issue has been a joy; we have laughed, we have cried, we have applauded your work, and we stand as just two Glasgow Girls who have the absolute privilege to be able to bring this small but perfectly formed community together.
Our front cover is a page to be cherished. We hope it invokes as much happiness as it did for us, a candid shot by of her parents, typically Glasgow and oh so full of life and love.
Sadly Roz’s mum is no longer with us, but that snippet in time, is a reminder to us all;
Take the damn photo, enjoy the chocolate treat, wear the shoes you are keeping for good, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
