Baripada Town police have arrested an accused from Joda area of Jalandhar for allegedly cheating lakhs of rupees by asking him to get a job in the railway department. The arrested accused was Kishore Chandra Behera of Jalandhar district. The accused is a railway department official. He was also a member of the selection committee of the Group COD department. A case was registered at Baripada town police station on 857/21 case number and an investigation was initiated.

India's largest hockey stadium which is coming up in Rourkela will be completed by July 2022 ahead of the upcoming Men's Hockey World Cup in January 2023. Chief Secretary of Odisha Suresh Mohapatra said the construction works of the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium are in full swing and will be over well within the stipulated time frame. All other allied amenities like a multi-level parking area and dormitories for players will also close within the deadline. The construction works for the same will begin soon, Mohapatra said while addressing newsmen after reviewing the various developmental projects in the Steel City on Wednesday. The Chief Secretary assessed the project development works of the under-construction Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium and the city Airport as well. 
Building works of the Bij Patnaik Indoor Stadium in Panposh has reached the last phases and it will be operationalized at the earliest. The 20000-seater Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium, once completed, will become the largest hockey stadium in India. It will co-host the 2023 edition of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup along with the Kalinga Stadium in
Bhubaneswar. The project work for the stadium in Rourkela has already started with the groundbreaking ceremony in June this year. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had laid the foundation stone in February 2021 for the ambitious project which will come up on a 15-acre plot at an estimated cost of INR 120 crore.

Bhubaneswar: Achieving yet another milestone, Odisha today crossed two crore mark in COVID-19 vaccination. 
Health and Family Welfare Department informed, “Odisha has achieved a milestone in the vaccination drive with two crore doses administered successfully. We are grateful to the entire Health team and to each and every people of the state for their proactive participation, making the drive successful.”With this, 40 percent of the total population in the state have taken the first vaccine dose, said official sources. 
As per data available on the Cowin portal, the state has cumulatively administered 2,00,21,814 vaccine doses so far. This means, the state-administered over one crore vaccine shots in nearly two months as it had achieved the first one crore vaccination mark on June 21. On the day, the state Government had begun a massive vaccination drive to achieve the target of 3 lakh inoculations per day. Meanwhile, the vaccination coverage in the country crossed the 56-crore mark on Tuesday.

Two martyred jawans from Odisha will be honored for their bravery, shaurya chakra award

The whole country will celebrate the 75th Independence Day tomorrow. Prior to this, the country’s heroic Jawans will be honored with various honors. Two jawans from Odisha have been awarded the posthumous shaurya Chakra. Martyr 2 SOG jawan will receive the shaurya Chakra Award. Commander Sudhir Tudu and Debashis will receive this special honor for their bravery and heroism. The two heroic youths of Odisha were martyred on September 7, 2020, in a shootout with the Maoists. The shooting took place in the forest near Sikri village in Kalahandi district. Sudhir and Debashis were heroically martyred in the clashes with the Maoists. "It is a matter of pride for Odisha," said Abhay, director-general of police. It is a matter of pride for us to have two Oriya martyrs. Their sacrifice will inspire us all.
